I think Carvana was already doing bad, but they were just so much bigger.

Carvana is about the only one left. Echopark and Carmax have physical locations even though they pivoted towards online sales.

Yea, it might only be a matter of time for Carvana.

The article said it right. Buying a new car online doesn't seem like a big deal, because it will be new, and have a warranty.

Buying a used car online, sight unseen, you don't know what you're getting, and I don't like the idea of doing that honestly.

The only reason I put up with it was because it was a very, very specific car. As far as normal used cars go, it's in person or not at all.

Yeah, its pretty much why I havent driven the 2.5 or so hours to go to reno to look at that used truck from my thread. I don't want to get that far out and feel like i'm commited to something if it's not perfect, and dealerships are masters at exploiting those kinds of feelings.

Got the car out for the first time this year. It was a really nice day, so I got to get the roof off on my way home from work. I didn't realize how much I missed this car.

It's a sad statement when my track oriented car, with it's wide ass tires and stiff suspension, and the mag ride in sport mode, rides better than my modestly lowered truck. In tour mode there's it's even worse in favor of the Corvette. I really need to get some different shocks for the truck.

Yeah lowering something almost never improves the ride quality. And that mag ride is just awesome for its capabilities. Stiff on track, soft on the road and everything in between.

So if mag ride is so nice, have people adapted it to aftermarket?

There's a company called DSC that offers upgraded programmable suspension controllers for cars with existing active suspension. It works with MagRide on the Corvette and valved systems from other cars. They also offer a standalone kit for retrofitting on cars that never had it. It's $2500 before you buy any shocks.

I think those are geared more towards mechanical shocks? I don't know if anyone offers a generic magnetic shock tube though. I would think someone would have to, but I can't find one at the moment.

I can get a dsc controller for my RS. Never saw the point for it though as the RS shocks are more like a 3S shock rather than mag ride.

I couldn’t find generic mag ride suspension when I looked. Would be cool if someone did, and you could retrofit it to a 3S.

I still really need suspension but hate all options. Minus maybe lowering springs and new shocks. Those are the least harsh ride I’ve been in while looking well. But I know coil overs are better on handling and better looks but such worse ride. I still would do the air ride if I was confident it would handle decent. But if this was ever an option surely it would be around air ride 4-5k range.

I don't know if the Bilstein inserts are still available for the 3S but they are probably the best all around shock you can get. The downside is you cannot go low with them.

could make your own coilovers with solid shocks and probably be way better than any of those cheap off the shelf coilover options

There’s a ton more options for coilovers now, and even more if you get the Evo adapters. A lot of nice ones that will ride very nice.

Hit 80 here the other day. Top off and into the twisties. Grip for days. Hitting corners way faster than any other car I have owned and felt amazing. That is with stock suspension. Have new end links and shocks sitting in the garage waiting to get installed after I get back. The longer I have the car the more I like it. Can't wait for the exhaust and a proper tune.

The roof is hands down one of my favorite parts of the car. I had mine off last Friday. The frame is so good that you don't lose anything by having it off either.

I drove it to work today. Looked back and saw some kids in a Frontier taking video of me. I made sure to get on it a bit.

I put the splitter back on while I had it up for an oil change. Despite the rough clearcoat, it looks fine from normal standing height, even in direct sunlight. It looks WAY better than it did before I refinished it.
