I finally got around to finishing the splitter protection repair. I took the last of my leftover carbon fiber and laminated the back of the ProTekt splitter skid plates. As a refresher, the point of this was to try to prevent the screw attachment points from breaking off again.

I laid down some resin, added the CF cloth, added a layer of waxed paper, and rolled out the excess resin with a roller tool. I didn't have a big enough piece to do the whole thing, so I had to make it out of two pieces. The seam ended up feathering out the individual carbon filament when I rolled it out. I don't really care because you won't see any of this when its on the car, and the entire point of this was to learn. I definitely learned.

Image

Today I trimmed off the excess with a dremmel, sanded the edges smooth, and drilled the resin out of the screw holes.

Overall I'm pretty happy with it. Assuming it works of course. I still need to jack the car up and get the splitter back on, then see how it holds up.

Carbon fiber dust is fucking itchy. It's no different than fiberglass in that regard.

I’m curious how much it strengthens it as well, I guess it’s all on where it breaks. It has to help.

Carbon fiber dust is terrible. We use some carbon fiber cord in some of our belts, and just carrying the belts around makes my arms itch for a day!

Took the car out for a short drive for the first time in something like 2 months the other night. I think I finally killed that stupid skip shift thing after several screwups with the code. I'm not changing anything else until I get a copy of HP Tuners.

With winter coming up, I'm going to need something to keep me interested. How much carbon fiber is too much? I need to get some more of the interior trim done, and I'm thinking of a custom steering wheel and maybe replacing the black part of the rear bumper. I've got some other ideas for exterior trim parts too.

That skip shift thing also seemed like it would be super annoying to me.

I can't do any worse than the local guy who made his own "carbon fiber edition" C7. Half of it was fake hydro or vinyl shit.

I haven't checked in to see if he's pulling the same cheesy shit with the C8 he bought.

I just ordered the last few pieces I need for the intake upgrade. I should try to get a baseline dyno run before it gets too cold.

More steps towards my 500hp goal. A fistful of air.

RockAuto had the LT5 throttle body significantly cheaper than anyone else. So I grabbed it while I was ordering some parts for Vira's sister's Mazda. 95mm vs stock 87mm. Should go nicely with my Halltech intake and MSD manifold.

Are you sure it's not just shift stains on the bowl at this point?

Currently at 75k. Pretty much identical to my car, except it doesn't have the Z07 package.
