I’m sure you don’t. I’m just saying that if you were really wanting to get a deal on ONE vehicle you would have this done already. But because you are all over the place with prices and vehicle it’s way to big to narrow down.

I am just trying to help, I don’t care to keep making suggestions and watch this go on for 10 more years.

And in the end, pay about the same per month after fuel, payments, insurance, etc. Either way, it ends up being about $250-$300 more a month than the Volt. That is a rough number to look at when thinking about what happens in October.

I wish the avalanche wasn't lifted, big tires are hard on transmissions. I must say if you end up with a kia soul, that is not even in the realm of where you have been looking. If we are opening up to those vehicles there are a lot of options out there.

Soul would probably be for the wife. She drives one now and I can tolerate it. Her lease is up early next year.

Honestly though, I keep looking at Kia if I'd buy new because of the warranty. 5 yr 60k bumper to bumper and a 10/100 powertrain. I've gotten to the point where I no longer want to work on or worry about my vehicles. It's why I keep paying others to work on the jeep. So a good warranty is something I'm going to look into.

but they put those warranty's on them because it gets the lemons fixed but most will never need it. Not saying dont get a warranty, just saying they wouldn't give you something that would cause them to lose money in the long run.

I know. But better safe than sorry. I just really like the idea that if something does go wrong, I don't have to "pay extra" for it at that time. Benefit of buying new and the only reason I would buy new. Otherwise I would buy used.

I hate this so much.

I still can't find something that fits all needs/wants for the price I want to spend.

Needs/wants - I know I posted all this before, but:

Good mpg - 20+ average, closer or above 30 would be ideal.
Reliable - need something I can truly depend on, and if something does go wrong, is either covered under a warranty or is a truly simple and easy fix.
Comfort - I spend and will be spending 2+ hours a day driving 4-5 days a week so need to be comfortable. Also going to be putting about about 15k miles a year.
Room - need to have room to carry me, wife, dogs, luggage, etc for when we do our weekend excursions. Ideally would have enough room to even sleep in if needed.
Safety - very high importance. We have both lost too many people close to us over the years so the more safety features it has the better. Don't really care about things like adaptive cruise, but blind spot monitoring, forward auto braking, etc. are what we both really want.

What is out there that would fit all this and be under $20k at the most? I am at a loss. Ideally I would like to stay under $15k.

I guess I would be willing to MAYBE go to $25k IF and ONLY IF it hits all the needs/wants perfectly. Whatever I buy will be replacing the Volt and would plan to keep until after we move at least. So minimum of 3-5 years.

I have been looking at new (kia and hyundai seem to offer the best warranty/reliability and get the most car for the money) or if buying used go through carmax - for warranty reasons.

Even though you say they are underpowered... 2.5 Outback or Forester with Eyesight fits your bill nearly perfectly. For the prices your willing to spend you might even be able to get a CPO.

Did they fix the oil consumption issues? My boss has a 2.5 Forester and it had to get a new engine at 20k. He said yesterday, it is using oil again.

The 15+ Outbacks do not seem to have that issue, but also why I recommend a CPO.

There's just not a lot of larger vehicles capable of actually averaging 20+mpg
