Ya, put it Corvette - 897 pops up.

My problem is there are so many on the roads here. I see maybe 1-2 Chevelles a month, if that. I see 1-2 Vettes a day out here.

But don't get me wrong. I have mad respect for the car. But it does nothing for me.

Spent some time working on the splitter over the last few days. I've been filling in the thin spots with fiberglass resin and spot putty. I'm finally happy with it, so I started spraying primer. It's not flawless, but I'm not aiming for that. It's a daily driven car, so it's silly to fill in every tiny imperfection. I mainly wanted to deal with the deep gouges in the bottom where it had been scraped and worn through the original resin.

It's interesting. Even though this was sold by C7 Carbon as a "carbon flash" painted piece, it's still made of carbon fiber. I didn't waste primer on the flat surface where it clamps to the bottom of the bumper. That's why you can still see the weave.

I'm going to sand it with 400 and 600 grit tomorrow, and hopefully start spraying color.

5 coats of clear. It really makes the metal flake pop.



Photos don't do it justice. I'm super happy with how this turned out. I think I'm actually going to feel bad for putting it on the car where it's going to get all chipped up

But at least now I'm confident I can fix it if it gets too bad

YOu going to give it a wet sand and buff to make it pop even more?

I thought about it, but I don't want to risk messing it up. It won't be that noticeable once it's on the car anyway.

I might try it with the replica stage 2 wing I bought. It looks like it was only shot with the base coat. I'm going to hit it with some clear and see if I can shine it up a bit.

Give it a quick wet sand. You will be glad you did.

With what grit? Or should I use a compound?

Maybe I should have painted the flat part on top. It would have given me some risk free practice area.
