Yeah I think that'll be plenty to get the majority of it off. Could always go to a touchless carwash afterwards too, one that has underbody spray (that's what I usually do).

I talked about this a lot in shout, but I haven't made any posts about it. There's an issue with the door latches freezing up on these trucks. Ford did a few service campaigns to try to add silicone and foam to the door to try to keep water from getting in, but they generally don't work. The actual fix is a redesigned latch. After getting locked out of my truck for a couple of days during the arctic blast, I decided I'd replace them.

Talk about a pain in the ass. The truck fits in my garage, but just barely. I have just enough room to open the doors and do the work. I had to tape a piece of packing foam to the pole in the middle of the garage to keep from smashing my door.

Taking the trim off wasn't any worse than any other modern car. But getting that latch out was a pain in the ass. The latch is bolted to a big part of the window glass guide. So you need to unbolt part of the window regulator to make room. Then you need to pull the latch assembly out with all the release cables still attached, which is a huge pain. It's even worse when the service manual doesn't tell you how to release the outer door handle cable from the door sheet metal. I fought to get it out, and then felt like a complete asshole when I found a picture of the cable retainer after the fact. It's so damn simple once you know the trick! Why couldn't they put that in the book?! :cussmad:

At least it'll make the passenger door easier. :sigh:

There was one nice surprise to this. They put some really nice door speakers in when they upgraded the stereo.

Nice.

Speakers are always an upgrade I do. Did it in the truck and outback. Huge difference. Still need to do something in the vette but it's a bit tricky with the factory amp and everything. Sound is OK at best compared to the other vehicles. Need to keep adjusting the settings to find the best sound for what is in there now.

Dude you almost have to hope in and out of the passenger door in there.

I got a good deal on a cab and dash harness from a 2017 Limited. I don't think they realized they hadn't separated the two. I paid less for this than you'd usually pay for either one alone.

It has EVERY option available in 2017. So I can pull out the wires and connectors and build anything I want going forward.

I wasn't going to go that crazy, but I found out my fuse box has most of the fuses and relays needed for this stuff. It just baffles me how they were cutting pennies out of some parts of the truck and leaving dollars on the table with stuff like that.

Late to the party but just got past page 1. Couple observations...

2.7??! Though I was surprised how well it ran when I first drove one.

That's got a flowmaster on it.

Edit now that I've finished. Nice truck. I've been low key looking for a similar 5.0 truck. Almost bought a lightning for 12k last month but saw it too late

It hauls ass for what it is. I'm very happy with it so far.

I'm glad to see you back around.

Thanks. Login issue is frustrating but is what it is. Book of faces has gone to shit so I might be back more often

Sweet deal. What will you be adding now to those harnesses?

I haven't decided exactly how I'm going to go about it yet. The main thing is the wiring for the power and heated seats, console power, and ambient lighting. I'm also interested in the low profile sub and amp, but I don't know how well that'll work in a short cab. There are also things like a heated steering wheel, keyless go and the floor shifter, but I really don't want any of those. I don't like the column shifter, but I do like the space it frees up on the console. I kind of want the keyless go, but there are some programming issues I may not be able to get around. I also worry that it would make it easier to steal.

Lots to think about. But nothing I have to do right now. I really do want to get the sync install going, but that's on hold until I decide how I'm going to modify the harnesses I have, and also whether or not I'm going to replace my el cheapo plastic dash with a nice leather Lariat dash. The place I bought the console from has one for a great price. I'd rather not pull the dash twice.

If you got the platinum harness you can add the massaging seats and rear heated seats :derr:

Totally get the heated seats and wheel. I like the keyless go and Sync as well.
