I like the black paint job and the console. They look oem and great. Yea never knew why some cats don’t include certain harnesses so that they or the consumer could later pay for improvements to their car.

Wrapped it up today. I'm SO glad I did this. Everything is far more ergonomic now. Better places for phone and drinks, and I can reach my climate controls a lot more easily. I'm really glad I went with the black console instead of the light gray one.

I got a great deal on the column shift storage bin too. So that's all set. There's one small piece of trim I'm still missing, but I can get that pretty cheap.

None of the power points are working, and the lights for the bins aren't installed. The USB port is kind of janky too. I've just got the cord sticking out of a hole in the front bin. I refuse to pay $45 for a plastic bezel that I won't need long term. I'll replace the whole thing with the 2 port USB hub when I do the Sync install. It's plenty good enough until I'm ready for that.

They didn't start sharing cabs between F150 and SD until 2017, right? Your console would have to come out of a Super Duty?

That looks awesome. The ergonomic aspect is why I've decided I don't want a 6 passenger truck.

Yeah that's correct.

I'll try to keep an eye out for one for him. Dunno how we'd actually get it to him if I find it, but the search is half the fun.

I've discovered this with truck shopping... the hunt is fun the actual buying blows

I find them a lot but not spending $600+ on one. Lol

Looks really good! Black was definitely the way to go!

Having driven my buddies 2020 Lariat on a few road trips, the center counsel is fantastic for driving.

That's just a ridiculous price but comes with most of the needed parts. A lot of other ones are $500+ in bad shape and missing parts/hardware. It's crazy how expensive.

That's pretty much exactly what I got, except I have the nicer OEM column shift storage bin. I've got significantly less than half that into my setup.

Now I’m getting F150 suggestions on YouTube. So everyone benefits. Not sure if you have these mounting points in your truck or not, but these look nice.

That's cool. I was planning to get the basic mounting plates. I might have to rethink that now.

I might look into those. I have regular tie down points and I have those pop up bed rail tie downs too, but something like that might be better for in the bed.

These are what I have along the bed. They work with the bakflip cover I have. https://www.bullringusa.com/

Those are cool. My plastic bed trim looks like it has knockouts for stake pockets. I wonder if those would fit?

Random thoughts after driving 800 miles.

Fuel economy peaked at 21.6 mpg. That's great for something with the aerodynamics of a barn.

Seats are really comfortable. Could use a little more lumbar support though. I arrived feeling a lot better than I thought I would.

The interior still faintly smells of spray paint. Hope that goes away soon.

It's loud. Between the exhaust and the road noise, it's annoying at times. Especially over one particular stretch of concrete on I-69 north of Indianapolis. I don't expect it to be a Lexus, but there's room for improvement.

The exhaust isn't stock. It drones really bad between 1500 and 2000 RPM under light to moderate load. Fortunately i was able to keep it above that with the cruise set around 70. The muffler looks much smaller than what I see on parts listed on eBay. I might look into alternatives. This isn't really meant to be a road trip car, so it might not be worth messing with. We'll see.

I'm really glad I got the console in. It was nice to have my stuff organized and in easy reach for such a long drive.
