Gained 0.8 mpg running premium over the last 6000 miles. Not a lot, but since it now has lift and bigger tires, that is not a bad thing. Might keep with it.

Question - does it require premium? Because cost wise you are probably losing money with a 0.8 mpg gain vs the extra cost of the gas. Tuned for the premium?

Premium when towing or high mountain driving is recommended by subaru. Not required. This is a 0.8 improvement over stock average mpg, not lifted/tire mpg as well. Closer to 2 mpg if you figure it all in.

The premium is recommended under load because knocking. With the off roading I do and the heavier tires I figure I'm in an average of higher rpms so more turbo load than average. Therefore although I'm probably losing $ it probably helps in long term reliability.

We noticed an improvement in mpg and engine smoothness in our NA outback when running at least 89 compared to 87.

Dude. I saw a ram 2500 towing a crosstek looked little lifted sams color. I had to do a huge double take to see if it was an f250 or Ram because it was white and I was just looking for a huge dude driving. Lol

Sounds like this is the standard vehicle choice for huge dudes apparently.

Got some good deals on "new" rock sliders for both. Know someone who had ordered some for theirs then they traded theirs in on a new Bronco purchase before installation. Crawford sliders for the forester and rallitek for mine.

Still haven't installed the sliders. Been sitting in the garage waiting to install them. Arms are feeling good enough to probably attempt them, but until I roll the vette out I don't really have enough room.

Finally got the car into the garage. Letting it dry for a couple of days then plan on finally installing the rock rails/sliders this week/weekend. Forgot how much longer it is than the forester. Especially with the rear tire carrier it takes up a LOT of room in the garage. Would have more if I could get rid of my rack/platform (gym stuff).

So the sliders won't work. I have to decide between them and sacrificing the integrity of my gas tank skit plates. With what I do with the car, I would rather have the gas tank skids. So they are going up on Facebook.
That said, I kind of like these, and they would work with my skids, but $1100 is kind of steep.

I agree with both. Expensive and nice.

Problem with subaru. Pay a premium for parts. That's actually one of the cheaper options

Did this to the forester today. First time ever attempting it. Did not do a very good job and it bothers me but Danielle is OK with it.
