I'll let you know when I finish bolting the skid plates on and go put more than a gallon of gas in it.
I think about all the things we could have done, all the miracles we could have achieved, if we were all just a little bit better than it turns out we are.

Everything is back in except for the radio and the rest of the center stack trim. Test drive was a success. I've got a prior obligation tomorrow, so the front brake lines will have to happen on Friday.

Went outside during lunch and gathered up all the tools I need to swap the brake lines. I cracked loose all the fittings except for one. That last one is soaking in PB Blaster right now.

The radio and center stack are back in, and the interior is complete. It'll hopefully be ready to go after a couple of hours of work tonight. :o hnoes:

And then leave tomorrow with it? Sweet! Good thing about brakes is you either got them right, or you don’t. You will know pretty quickly. Lol.

I would soak the bleeder screws. I broke both my rear ones off trying to turn them, luckly it’s an in stock item at the parts store.

I've been periodically soaking everything under the truck when I was working on the fuel tank.

All 4 bleeders cracked loose without any problems. So did the caliper banjo bolts. The only thing I'm having a problem with so far is the hard line to hose connection on the driver's side. Those hose connections are the only things I wasn't soaking since they're so high up and visibly very clean. I think it's partially due to my sloppy flare wrench, honestly.

I was surprised how easy the exhaust manifold bolts came out for me. Getting a good angle was more of a problem then actually removing them. Had to lay on top of the engine for the couple by the steering. The exhaust manifold is pretty much the only rust on the thing.

Do we all have the same generation of LS engines?

The Vortec 5300 LM7 (VIN code 8th digit "T") was introduced in 1999. It has a cast iron block and aluminum heads, and can be considered the "garden variety" version of the Generation III V8s.

The 1999 LM7 engine produced 270 hp (201 kW) and 315 lb⋅ft (427 N⋅m) of torque.

The 2000-2003 engines made 285 hp (213 kW) and 325 lb⋅ft (441 N⋅m).

The 2004-2007 engines made 295 hp (220 kW) and 335 lb⋅ft (454 N⋅m) of torque.

The stock cam specs @ .050 lift are: 190/191 duration, .466/.457 lift, 114 LSA, 112/116 Timing

The LH8 in the Hummer is Gen IV. The big difference is some of the engine sensors, and the engine family is set up to accept displacement on demand and variable valve timing, even though the LH8 doesn't have either feature. Gen IV also brought flex fuel capability. The H3 got that in 2010 with the LH9.

Gen IV started in 05 in the cars, and the trucks in 07.

Gen V is when they went to direct injection. As far as I know, there's no Gen VI yet. At this rate, there may never be one.

Front eye of the leaf spring broke off. What was left hooked itself on the frame, so we were at least able to drive up out of the park to the parking lot. Vira's parents came and rescued us.

We're going to borrow the spring off the orange truck to go back and rescue it tomorrow.
