Power was never the problem with the Miata. It being only 2 seats, and being loud and uncomfortable was the problem.

This is true, but I'd be lying if I said it wasn't damned tempting!

Go for it. Baby isn't even walking yet, won't need new shoes for a while.

You need to get a cool car so I can live vicariously through you until I can get something cool of my own.

That'll make a sizeable hole in the water to throw money into

I grew up on and around boats all my life, I'm well aware of what it takes to maintain them.

Talk about a quick depreciating asset. These and RV’s are the worst!

But they are fun.

That is why you buy used. At least the depreciation isn't as bad. My dad always had boats and my wife's family always had RVs. They would buy them used and fix them up themselves. Hell of a lot cheaper than new.

my current car(BRZ) I bought new and it was the first car I ever bought that I didn't pay car for. I got sick and tired of fixing my car all the time and just plain old worrying about things breaking.

I don't know F about boats or RVs except that I'd never buy either. but even with the loss of value(which I could recoup a little over half right now if I sold it) it was worth the peace of mind. even when I had a problem with the GPS all I had to do was take it in and say, "just fix it". no questions asked. it was a VERY good feeling.

Same with the Volt. Bought it CPO. Only 1 issue in the last few years that required the warranty but it was nice to have it fixed with nothing out of pocket.

Maintenance on boats is like throwing money down a dark bottomless hole hah. I'd love one, but..

Don't get me wrong. Still a major money pit. But not as bad as if you buy one new.

My dad bought a Malibu ski boat 12 years ago for 14k. I bet it’s still worth 8k. That’s better than any car you all get. Don’t buy crappy boats and they don’t depreciate like what everyone says.
