hmm, no rust on mine. Seems like good stainless steel to me.

Now, the stocker on the other hand...

I can think of about a billion mods that would be a better pick than a catback too.

catbacks dont make much on a stock car. in a few weeks well find out just how much they make when i finish ours i plan on doing a back to back dyno run on a stock 91 VR4.

I think sound plays a role too. Personally, I'm getting tired of the sound my ATR downpipe and stock exhaust produces, it's just too raspy.

Anyone know how the new "IPS - Coated Aluminized-Steel" exhausts sound? should they last in the AZ desert? Or should I just go for the stainless single shot?

ATR DP/No cats = loud.

That's fine if you are looking for sound but some don't realize that bang-for-buck catback on a stock turbo car just plain and simple sucks. Similiar to the CFDS that people drop crazy $$$ on and get pissed when their car with $3-$4k in mods is slow as bawls.

a CFDS is more for feel and smoother driveability than anything but it does give substantial gains. I still can't justify dropping 1.2k on one tho.

As for a catback, I don't plan on buying one until I upgrade to a larger td04 turbo.

I only got the catback because I found it for about $375 and I hated the way the stocker sounded so raspy. The ATR is actually quieter and deeper, but with a nice scream at WOT. Kinda a cross between a harley and a F1 car, lol.

I would get the Tanabe. WAY better build quality than those others you mentioned. I had tanabe a while ago and was not very loud at idle/cruise but once you step on it they SCREAM!!!

I had the quad tip and I didn't like it very much. It had no cat/resonators and droned 2x as much as the Tanabe, which had no cat/resonators either. Fitment was OK but IMO some of the bends could have been made better for clearance purposes.

The HKS system is basically a glorified stock system. I would not waste money on it.

And the Borla is OK but the sound that comes out of it is not my cup of tea. I also hear the drone can get annoying during cruise speeds.

I would really go for the Tanabe. FTW.

Hmm,then I think Ill start looking at the tanabe.

I looked at the quad tip disasembled, and not to knock on anybody, but it doesnt look that great of quality, I also heard about the tips not fitting.

Yeah IMO the piping could have been designed for more ground clearance. The tips would hang too low when using the stock hangers so I had to kinda modify it and use zip ties. The exhaust was damaged in an accident so it's no more.

Heres a thread I made when I had the tanabe http://www.3si.org/forum/showthread.php?t=352734

Right now I run no exhaust :)
