Than what is it? It's not a hood or trunk lid and every other car that has a hatch or similar (vans/stationwagons/etc.) it's considered a door. You can get into the car through it. And mind clearing up that second sentence a bit

A F430 is a two door, an MR-2 is a two door, a 3/S is not a two door.

In most instances, the 3S is considered a 2-door vehicle. They even clarified it by the shooting brake mention. A shooting brake is indeed a 2-door car, but with large hatch area. Think station wagon. Google it (try shooting break as well). You'll see.

according to hawaii DMV a 3s is classified as a 2DSW

i used 2 door for mine.

I've always seen the 3s Classified as Coupe which by definition makes it a 2 door car
