We put a battery charger on the battery to recharge it. It's not holding a charge after being on the charger.
I really appreciate the offer on the alt...but as stated earlier in the thread, I discovered I have extra 110 alts laying around. We're gong to take this busted one out, see what's wrong, and probably rebuild one ourselves.

That's because rebuilds are cores...(im sure you knew that tho)..however what you did NOT know is that most "cores" are just cleaned up and the parts that are BROKE are replaced, and the parts that are in still working order well....they DO not get replaced, so yes...theoretically you could have received an alternator that had JUST had its brushes replaced and NOTHING else (so every other part could still have 100k miles on it and just WAITING to break). Thats what "reman" means...just fix whats broke and leave the rest alone.....

Well, if you got the answers, why ask the question.
No alt causes the battery to boil and the chemicals inside it to bubble off. If you popped the cover atop the battery, you'll probably find it to be low.
