JC = Jersey City. NJ is a big state but if you plan to work in Manhattan (I thought you said?), you will probably be only as west as Harrison. A lot of people take the JC LTrain stop in or live in Hoboken.

I'll be working about 3 blocks from Times Square.
I'd rather deal with a long commute to work than deal with my car getting broken into.

Oh, yeah I'd never live in Harrison or JC. Move to New Brunswick, South Bound Brook, or if you got money, North Bergen.
NB is cheap and semi okay, SBB is cheap and fairly okay, North Bergen is not cheap, but definitely okay, and very close to JC/Path.
