Not necessarily. It's a left hand drive GT-R, so it's most likely meant for the American market. Nissan took the car to Laguna Seca for testing, and they said they tuned the 'comfort' setting on the suspension in Los Angeles. There was also a GT-R sighted up here in Michigan last winter. Also, some of the guts of the transmission were developed by a supplier here in MI.

There's plenty of reasons to be testing the car here. The badges are probably still taped over because nobody cared enough to take the tape off after the official unveiling. My guess is, that car was doomed from the day it was built. It's very possible that it's a non-saleable prototype, and will eventually be crushed. Since it's just a doomed test beater, why be concerned about the cosmetics?

hmm... i know at least chrysler does some highway testing down here on alligator alley... that'd be sweet to see one there.
