I dunno about that. I think teh bigger problem will be keeping it in the right weight class and maintaining the capacities people expect from a 'half ton' now.

The capacity the vast majority never uses. Trucks are the new mall parking lot cruisers.

No excessive at all. You have two kids, and your kids will have friends. And legally we cannot cram kids in all corners of vehicles like we were all crammed in as kids. haha

There is so much "stuff" that you have to bring with you with kiddos in tow. A lot that wasn't a thing when we were their age, but are now required. A larger vehicle is not excessive, but a necessity to be able to manage all that comes with them in a bit a comfort.

I have a four door sedan with a cavernous trunk that we have to play tetris with just to visit family. (well not in 220, but in the past) Which is also a 300 mile trip that we used to make once every two months. So electric is out.

I'm not against the idea of a good hybrid though.

I don't, but I have seen a few friends decide to swap back to a simpler life with their kids (more like what we had growing up) and they seem to really enjoy it. And we still somehow survive just fine in sedans and small hatchbacks in Europe

I hate tons of stuff for kids, if you saw what little our girl had you would be blown away.

But it takes a lot of stuff to take them anywhere. It’s mind boggling.

Again, laws, I have no desire to get a visit from CPS. The amount of crap you have to have is stupid. But not much you can do about it since you have stories like this;

"Cooper was arrested and charged with felony child abandonment and endangerment. The police only found out what was going on because a busy-body neighbor called them to report a crime when she saw the Cooper children playing outside without an adult hovering over them and watching their every move."

It is ridiculous, I would LOVE to let Jaxon go out, run around, and explore the neighborhood. But I can't until he is older.

When I was a kid, I would ride with my Dad on his motorcycle, now, my 8 yo still has to use a booster seat and is not allowed in the front seat of a car.
