I'm not sure exactly. Early 2000s. I think they were used on a few different AMGs. The SL65 was one of them.

If someone makes a set of the caliper brackets, I'd buy a set from you. I just don't have a lot of time to get set up with a machine shop to do it. I don't know anyone with that capability.

Or if you want to make a "kit" with brackets, calipers, rotors, etc. ready to bolt on, I'd totally be up for that too. Obviously mark it up some for your time/effort, etc.

Yeah. Buying the bracket would make this much easier. I have a shop I use but they have wait times, and I have to get over there.

I think I’m just gonna run some upgraded pads for a couple more years honestly.

I had looked a while back at eMachineshop.com where you put your design in their software, they quote it out and then make the parts for you. Probably more expensive, but might be an easy way to make a few if needed.

What format is your cad drawing in? Their software can import DXF, STP, STEP, IGS, IGES or SLDPRT.

Looks like those calipers are basically the same as the GTR calipers. You could buy AMG calipers cheaper, then use GTR rotors since the GTR rotor has the same bolt pattern.

I didn’t want the liability or hassle of making kits to sell, especially with something as critical as brakes.

I can save it in any of those formats. I have it as a DXF, STP, and SLDPRT already.

If you can send me a DXF, I'll try to import it into emachineshop's CAD program and get a quote to make a few sets. matt@jannusch.org

HR suspension makes hub centric 5mm spacers that fit our cars very well.

I think these are the ones I got from you, and they do fit well, but with my replica 5 spoke chromies, they would not center up on the hub, so I had to add that additional ring to get them to be centered on the hub and not the lug nuts.

Vira's wheels are that way too.

But then, so were the Enkeis I had on my Stealth. They were more of a generic fitment, so you needed the hub centering ring even without spacers.

weird. I know the 5mm spacer just hugs the stock center hub. The stock hub is long enough to still be used. So, if it centered on the hub without the spacer, it would still work with the spacer.

Yeah, I think it’s my replica wheels most likely, or the new hubs I got may not be as long as stock or something. It was weird, it looked like it should work but it didn’t. So I made those rings to solve the problem.

For my quarantine birthday I finally finished the rears.

I fully recommend the Evo 8/9 route for rear calipers, as they are direct bolt on with 2g rear rotors. EvoX like I had requires some modifications to work.

I got partway through getting your caliper bracket design for the Viper calipers into eMachineshop and then got stuck. I need to get back at that when work frees up a bit.

With the viper front brakes, it’s as easy of a bolt on as any big brake kit. EvoX calipers require more since you have to change the knuckle, which wasn’t working for me.

I know, you keep reminding me. I really like the idea, but for a car im not currently driving im not sure I want to hunt down a set just yet. Honestly 2nd Gen 3s brakes arent that bad for the driving I subject them to. Now if I actually raced them then yes, but they bite really good for 1-2 hits when there is an emergency.

I am curious how much the adapters are to be made. I’m not in a hurry to jump on another brake upgrade but deff want upgraded brakes.
