So is the green or the black one getting torn apart? The black one looks to be in way too good of shape to be ripping apart.

There is never JUST with greg. That's what makes him great at what he does. He will take it off of one and go to put on the other and while he is there some bushings, powder coating, maybe some lines, and something else will happen.

In the end it will look great, be great....again, just how greg does stuff. I just don't want him to make huge car plans again and not do it.

I need to get all the powder coating done before I start this new job. So progress will be happening fast.

Right now I'm negotiating a deal with my garage land lord to have the whole thing again so the VR4 can stay tucked inside.

I have 3 cars. I have gone thru a dozen more.

But i've only got one wife.

And she drove her new car to work earlier today.

This weekend I'm going to tackle the rear end swap between the two miatas. Found that brand new ring and pinion sets are $600 and I can get them in just about any ratio I want. The stock ratio is 4.3 and the car cruises at just under 3600rpms in 5th at 70mph.

Been tempted to switch to a 3.63 rear to make the gearing much taller. 70mph now would be only 3000rpms.

In a such a light car making 250whp, I can't imagine it would kill the torque so much as to dog the car.

Thoughts? Maybe this would be a better question for the miata forums...

I'd probably go somewhere in the middle since it will be mostly a track car. Also make sure you look at your speed in gear and compare that to the tracks you'll likely run regularly.

Ah good point. Maybe I shouldn't do anything till after the car is built and then "tune" the gearing for the track.

Taller tires are cheap and easy.

That also doesn't do as much as you think for changing ratios.

Spent today cleaning out the garage and tomorrow I will be working on bringing a friends 98 VR4 back to life. We will see how the week goes.
