That was a huge issue for me as I WANT a Tahoe. Love them. But I needed a bed to haul stuff. Your right, and if you go to suburban they are even cheaper.

But also ever bigger with even worse MPG.

I don't NEED a bed to haul stuff, that is a want. Haven't had a truck in many years. If I can get something that can tow a trailer it would solve the need for a bed.

Just a suggestion, I’ve seen ones go 1-2k cheaper with everything similar. And what 1-2mpg worse? 2k of price will last a long time in gas if you get what you want.

My concern is size. Could fit a hoe in the garage. Not so much a burb. Plus daily around here in something that big is also a bit of a concern. Extra interior space would be nice though. Just seems too big for my needs.

A suburban is too big, but a full size truck is okay?

My avalanche is 2 inches longer than a suburban. Just FYI.

That big without a bed seems weird to me.

Not sure if worth looking at 2500 vs a 1500.

A Suburban is basically a quad cab Silverado with an enclosure.

My brother just picked up a 03 Suburban 2500 with the 6.0. Its got 194k miles. The rockers are rotted, the gas door has some rot, and the lower rear quarters have some rot as well.

He got rockers for $50 shipped. I thought I got him a gas door for $3 at the junkyard but it is about an inch smaller in diameter. He's going to make his own lower rear quarters.

He paid $2250 for it. He mainly intends to use it to haul the camper he picked up. He'll eventually use it to drive back and forth to work once he sells his truck. They use their 18 Outlander Sport for everything else.

Found a relatively low mileage 04 Avalanche (125k) with complete service records, one owner, etc. for not a bad price (asking $9k - but sure I can get them down). Asked for some more info/pics, but this is the first older one I have seen this well taken care of with full service records and 1 owner that has been local it's whole life. :chin:

Biggest concern is 04 is one of the worst years to buy. Numerous transmission problems with the 4L60E.
