Dan would let me drive it if I wanted to. I don't want to mooch like that though. He mainly bought it because his current one has well over 300k miles on it. He's rebuilt the suspension, but no engine or trans work beyond normal maintenance.

I felt bad for the guy who sold it to us. He was saying how he kept it nice for his dad and how it reminded him of his dad. The whole time I'm standing next to Dan's car, which embodies the term "beater", and thinking 'we're probably going to ruin your car'. :(

The 'new' one actually drives pretty nice for what it is. The worst thing about it is the seat cushion is blown out, so you lean towards the door a little. I truly did consider buying it for myself, but I'm holding out for a Montero.

After all the searching I've done, the Montero is really one of the nicest vehicles you can get for under 3k.

I'm going to try to keep the new 240 in decent shape. There's still hope my nephew can drive it.

Thats probably the best priced Pajero ive ever seen. Everything on my coast is 10K+

It's cheaper because you live right on the border with Canada. They've only got a 15 year rule up there, so they've been bringing in cool cars for a few years now.

I really like those 2 door Pajeros. Especially the Gen 3.

Splitting hairs? Im hardly that far off from what you found. Hes also looking at a 2nd gen+ monti. Your first one is a gen 1.

Those are also right on the boarder in WA, so your market is a bit more saturated then down by me.

Ya. Jeff mentioned that. Didn't really think about it being that close. When I do think about it I do see quite a bit more of the "rarer" stuff around here than I did out east.

Kinda makes me wonder why there are no big JDM importers in Michigan. They've got two massive border crossings with Canada.

This was on Craigslist a month or so back. I think it was listed for $1500ish. Guess it didn't sell. Looks like he's had issues with deadbeats on eBay too. It's about 20 minutes from my house. I asked him if he's interested in ending this early for an easy local sale.

It's obviously no 3rd gen. But it's way more simple, I've got a ton of interchangeable spare parts from my truck, and it's got that third world safari style :lol:

On a side note. We had an Izusu trooper II growing up that looks exactly like this. Is it the same?

Nope, Trooper isn't the same.

The Hyundai Galloper was the same truck though. They never sold it in the US.

He said he'd end it early if I got close to his buy it now price, but the BIN isn't showing now that it's got regular bids against it. I'm waiting to hear back.

The buy it now price was $2700. Local sale id let it go for $2300. I think it will easily exceed that on eBay. First time it was listed it sold for $2650. The buyer wasnt able to figure out shipping and delivery on his end though.

It's a little more than I want to spend for an old one, but it's a fair price. Hmm :chin:

Thats a good looking 1st gen. I like how he squeezed the 33's on those factory wheels. No tire shop would install those on a 6" wide wheel. I tried. :)
