So how did he bypass those problems?

Read back a few pages. He's working from two cars. The flooded one, and a smashed one.

The flood car had a clean body (it's mostly aluminum) and the smashed car had usable everything else.

Two became one.
I think about all the things we could have done, all the miracles we could have achieved, if we were all just a little bit better than it turns out we are.

I knew that but I thought he still had issues because Tesla was disabling some things. Maybe that's just what Tesla can and will do but not really what he is having issues with.

Some other people warned him to keep the data connection turned off, because Tesla could remote in and disable stuff. They've done this on other salvaged cars. Of course, one of the guys who figured out how to bypass that has already offered to lock Tesla out :D

That'll only happen if he tries to hack in Ludicrous Mode.

I'm still keeping tabs on this. It looks like all the electrically dangerous stuff is done and working. Now he's down to the safe(ish) but difficult to diagnose stuff. There's some fault with the ABS which is also cancelling out the stability control and regenerative braking.

The car can be driven, but it's still a blinky festival of error codes. Sure would be nice if you could sign up for repair info on AllDataDIY or something... :grumble:

It's interesting to note that the ABS and stability stuff is the kind of failure that could happen to any car. Someone in the thread mentioned it can also cancel out hill descent control on a modern 4x4.
