Re: The Audi thread

Whenever you use forceful and overt verbal persuasion to try to convince others to see things your way, they're probably not listening to what you say, Instead they're looking for every error in you your logic and mistakes in your facts, all the while constructing counterarguments. Worse still, they don't merely believe you're wrong; they need you to be wrong in order to protect the status quo. And since the final judge exists in their own head, you lose every time. - The Influencer
Is the level of bullshit you have to go through to change things in a direction you want, less than than or equal than the level of current bullshit?

2018 A5 and S5.
349 hp SC V6, no manual, and it's a little bigger than the previous car. At least it's slightly lighter.
I didn't expect a radical departure from the B8 chassis mine is based on, but it honestly looks like a B8 with a mild restyle, kind of like they did in 2013. I'm underwhelmed. It's a very evolutionary upgrade.
Maybe it'll grow on me, but I doubt it. I haven't liked a single one of the new sharp edged origami-looking Audis.

Re: The Audi thread
I want to see it "live" on the road. A lot of cars lately have looked blah to me in pictures but then I see them coming down the road and they just.. work.

I am happy they didn't mess up the rear end, which IMO your car has one of the best looking asses I've seen in a while.
But I agree, your body style looks a lot better. It was a flowing and organic design in a sea of angles. The new one looks like it is buying into the current trend. Which is sad considering Audi is usually a trend setter. In fact I think the A5 was one of the first to be released with the LED headlights that are on everything now.

Is it supposed to look like this?

Because I don't think it's supposed to look like this.

Re: The Audi thread
I don't know. The engine bay has a ton of grit in it. It surprised me too. Then again, it does have 75,000 miles on it. Normally the airbox and bumper covers up most of the stuff in that photo, so it's not like it'd get cleaned regularly.

Re: The Audi thread
My Focus has a lot of dust on it already in the engine bay, and it was 35,000 miles and I've had it just under 2 years. I think there is a lot of dust around where I live because of all the construction. At least it seems that way anyway.

Re: The Audi thread
I just meant the fact that it was all torn apart. Don't read too much into it
The unpainted part is an aluminum crumple section for the front crash structure.
I had to swing the radiator out in order to replace the alternator belt and tensioner. It's the only belt on the car. The other accessories are gear driven off the back of the engine, where all the timing chain parts are.

Re: The Audi thread
So I've got a head scratcher here.
Why would cold temperatures by killing my battery overnight? Ever since my starter issues last year, I've gotten in the habit of checking the battery level in my MMI periodically. It was fine over the summer. But as it gets colder, it's getting lower and lower, and my ~30 min drive each way for work doesn't seem to be enough to charge it up again.
I had the battery tested twice in the last two years, and both times it was fine. It was brand new when I bought the car. As I said, it was fine when it was warm. I'm starting to worry I need to keep my jump pack in the trunk, or hook it up to my trickle charger overnight.
I haven't checked the alternator charge rate in a while, but it was fine last time I looked at it. I'm confident there's no parasitic draws. It really just seems to be due to the temperature.
WTF?
