It depends on the state. In PA it depends on how long you've been married on how the financial split occurs, even if there is one. I believe you have to be married for 10 years for a financial split to be necessary.

Coop that depends on the state you get divorced in. I know someone who's now ex basically waited till his job moved him to a state with favorable divorce laws before she divorced him.
