Had another event today. She really is starting to push the kart. First video is her best run. Second video is ones where she found the limit. Love both of them.

This thing fought me all day. ALL DAY.

First I had to take the fuel tank out of the other kart. Thought it was just undoing the steering supports. Nope.

Drop the floor pan. Those bolts get hit and ground and thus make them hard to get off and back on.

Got it off. Go to put it on but had to clean it out.

Dried 2 stroke

Then this hose was hard as a rock and the filter at the bottom in pieces.

And of course the replacement hose is curved. And thus I had to pin it flat and heat it. And make it so it doesn’t just curve up. Also the filter wouldn’t go in so I had to put the hose in and put the fill hole and had to attach it.

Then it didn’t want to fit like the other after I got the floor pan off the main kart. It was just little issue after little issue after little issue.

Needed to wire up a kill switch but hate cutting wires. I had this elaborate plan….jeff talked some sense lol. This worked great.

I need a keyway to mount the gear and tire and it should be good to test!

Also I couldn’t even attach the throttle cable. It had some odd throttle cable. My other kt100 had the one I needed though. It really was just one thing after another and I’m still not actually done.

Got a little seat time, and by that I mean 15 mins. It was a little hectic. First, I forgot the air pump for the tires. So I had to go buy an air chuck as where I was had a compressor and but no air chuck.

Then I wanted to try my drill attachment…..it broke the bolt….so I need a better bolt if I’m gonna do that.

But after it all got started she did well. It takes off so much better than her motor and prob went faster today than her other engine ever did. Not that the other engine isn’t capable…it’s just weak.

I do think I have a 12 or 13 sprocket on the engine. I do wanna swap that out for the 9 sprocket. Give the kart its best take off, given the 4 cycle ones have more torque down low and this two stroke needs to be higher RPM.

Also working with a guy on reddit that has designed something that hooks to my insta360 to log mph, rpm, path of the course, and other things. It Bluetooth links auto starts the recording, I can overlay the info in her video. He wanted to do it for autocross. Given they are always different, and you can walk the course, I mark the start, and the end…then it does the rest. Should be interesting.

Went racing. First time out the gate…she gets almost strait…lets the motor eat….it spun around so quick and almost hit the timing trailer!!

They gave her a pass and she still got her 8 runs. It was idling. It didn’t want to. So instead of doing what I should I started turning it leaner.

Her 3rd run was amazing. Then it started to not run right. I accused her of not wanting to go fast. It wasn’t her. It was me. I should have made it richer. Not leaner. I’m super mad at myself. That kart was ready to scream!!!!

The local that runs these engines on dirt is giving me an already tuned carb, just bolt it on and leave it alone. It’s bigger too. So it’s gonna be even more scary.

Anyways. Last meet she was :40 second from the leader. This week she was :35…with issues and the runs she got with power she was just feeling out the course. Soooo hopefully it’s all good. Next month.

Alright. Gonna have a lot of out with the old and in the new. First up is carb, I had a small one. Found a bad ass local guy that sets up other people’s cars. Has a big one, already tuned. Took my car to him today. Wish I would have taken my daughter as he was able to just use the local dirt circle track because….thats what he needs when setting up, would have let her take her kart on it.

I’m sure it’s amazing when it’s an actual track. But autocross isn’t that. It doesn’t have the system to turn it on and off. I’ve been using it for rpm basically and even then it didn’t log 4 stroke rpm.

This guy on reddit makes these but again for tracks. I talked to him and was like, what about autocross? He liked the idea so he made me one. I make the start and end point. It maps where the kart goes, logs mph, rpm, lots of other stuff. It also starts and stops my insta360 and only records the laps. I’ve been geeking out on it. Here it is just sitting my car when leaving my house.


I’m sure there will be a learning curve but I’m stupid excited to be able to have actual data saying you were this fast here, slowed down to this, then took the turn.

That will also go on hopefully this week.

Yes. Yes it would. Without a start and finish it wouldn’t work for lap time. But it would do everything else. It is bad ass.

Went out around the subdivision today. Tried to set a course. I don’t think it really matters as even if it just records it I can go in the website and take a way and add. Only thing I don’t get is lap time.

Issues. Every file has same date and time so I don’t know which is which when trying to do things. Kind of annoying.


It also lost two nuts. They need to have a little longer bolt. It’s all good but just another …kind of annoying.


Then I don’t know what happens when I get something like this.


Now it also did start my insta but didn’t end it and restart it each lap like I thought it was suppose to. But I was also having issue with it realizing when there was new laps. So that kind of why I think I will do circuit and just let it get all the info. I don’t lose anything from what I’m doing now. Now I have tons of video, which I would rather have…so while it’s not doing everything how he said it would. It does get everything he said it does. Just not as seamless….and I’m okay with that. I can work around it.
