A pillar
So I have the fiberglass triple gauge a pillar thing. Recently I saw someone selling both sides and said I would take the passenger if someone wanted the drivers. Well that worked out.
So here is my issue. My current one is held in by a screw. I hate it. No one sees it but me but its my car and I hate it. When I originally bought it I tried a couple things, Velcro, and various things.
Anyone have these? How did you mount them? I was honestly thinking of taking a junk one and epoxying the factory clips on it.
Thoughts?

Re: A pillar
I guess redo it all if I have to take it down. It’s possible.

Wrap the whole thing in matching vinyl?

That’s not what I want, I want a way to mount it all better.

Oh, thought you just didn't like seeing the screw. Could use a flush mounted screw and then the vinyl would cover it.
Best way is probably to use some sort of clips, but depending on how much wiring you have behind the pod, that might not work the best.
I always hated having gauges there, so I moved mine to the center vent location, and was building a graphical display that would fit behind the stock center gauges but didn't finish it.

Re: A pillar
You are right, they suck there. I did it because it was what I thought was cool back in the day. I still like era appropriate mods so it works but if I were to do it today I would use my black stealth logger and be done with it.

Re: A pillar
I did it there because they are easy to see, and I didn't want to lose my AC vents.

How is yours attached? Is it the whole a pillar cover? Or just the pods? I love the look of the whole cover. Hence why when given the chance to get the other side I grabbed it but they just dont attach well.

I have the autometer dual pod. It attaches with alligator push pin things. You have to drill the holes through both. It's not perfect, but it works pretty well.

Re: A pillar
I epoxied a couple of these long push rivets into the "correct" location to match up with the factory sluts that the metal clips went into. Use good epoxy, needs to hold up to the heat, scuff it up real well, clean it etc.

Nice!!!! Toni with the save!
Cant wait to try. Any recommendation on marking the correct spot? Some sort of sharp object to mark it? Measure off the old one?

Re: A pillar
Hmm I did it like 14 years ago, I don't recall how I lined it up. I think I just eyeballed it lol. You could first hotglue a shortened golf tee or something similar just to test fit some kind of post. That should help with the location somewhat.
I didn't use that exact one, just for picture purposes. I just bought something at a local parts store.

Re: A pillar
Perfect. I was telling a local about it and he said “you mean like this” apparently he did the same thing. What’s funny is I never knew he had them as he put a textured paint over his to look like factory. He even has some of those left over that I’m gonna grab.
So looks like I will instal this this weekend.

Man none of my vehicles have ever had sluts on the equipment list..

Re: A pillar
You need to watch out for how long it is. We had some plastic fasteners on Vira's old dual pillar pod, and it caused the A pillar trim to not fit right.
I have an old piece from the Spyder that might help you. It's cut short for a Spyder, and the trim is torn. But you could feel free to hack it up and use it for test fits. Let me know if you want it.

I think about all the things we could have done, all the miracles we could have achieved, if we were all just a little bit better than it turns out we are.

Re: A pillar
The Spyder a-pillar cover is identical to the coupe, it is just cut at the top of the pillar where the roof header intersects it on the Spyder. It doesn't continue over the door like it does on the coupe.
