I didn't even know this was a thing. It's pretty cool. Hopefully this spreads into the aftermarket soon.
Also, those brakes are hooooge. They're Akebono too. Not Brembo.

I think about all the things we could have done, all the miracles we could have achieved, if we were all just a little bit better than it turns out we are.

Hammer sized brakes! Lol. That was really cool, I’m sure it’s patented but will make its way to the aftermarket in some form.

Saw these a few months ago in one of our tech mags. Looks very interesting. I'm gonna reserve judgement until actual wear performance is proven.

Biggest downside I can see is having to scrap the rotors once the tungsten layer wears off. But since they last 30% longer than regular rotors, that might not be too bad.

And the like $5000 parts bill
Re: Porsche tungsten carbide coated brake rotors
Well, that's Porsche dealer prices. Aftermarket would be significantly cheaper.

Saw this the other day too. Wonder if there is an easier way to coat rotors with it. That would definitely be worth figuring out.

Yes but that's still less time than most cars. Pretty much every German you replace the rotors when you do the pads (pccb do seem to last quite a bit longer. 100k+ miles. Normal life of a Cayenne is about 50k)
