Vinyl wrap
Its no secret I want a paint job but I cant seem to find the person to do it. I think a vinyl wrap would work well since my car is mostly garage kept. If I did a vinyl wrap I would want something cool, something that really makes the car pop.
Anyone ever look into this? Any suggestions? Thoughts?

Re: Vinyl wrap
Other than having Beth's tri bike wrapped I have zero experience with it haha. Slightly different size job!
Re: Vinyl wrap
The sky is the limit really but picking is hard. Like I like the color change but not on my car. And I love satin but it’s played out.

Re: Vinyl wrap
The one thing I know for sure with Vinyl wrap, is the surface underneath needs to be nearly perfect, or it will show in the vinyl wrap.

Steve Pod has some vinyl wrap experience. Not sure if he knows on full cars though.

Whenever you use forceful and overt verbal persuasion to try to convince others to see things your way, they're probably not listening to what you say, Instead they're looking for every error in you your logic and mistakes in your facts, all the while constructing counterarguments. Worse still, they don't merely believe you're wrong; they need you to be wrong in order to protect the status quo. And since the final judge exists in their own head, you lose every time. - The Influencer
Is the level of bullshit you have to go through to change things in a direction you want, less than than or equal than the level of current bullshit?

No, not fixed. You don't have to spend $15k on a paint job for it to be good. You're looking at easily $3,500 for a basic vinyl wrap. If I paid someone to paint my car, rather than doing it myself I'd be into it for less than that.

Re: Vinyl wrap
I prefer dip over wrap. A good dip job is almost indistinguishable from paint, I can always tell if something is wrapped, it never has that glass look.

You're not going to be getting anything other than a Macco paint job for $3500 lol

3,500 is way more than a basic wrap and I cant find a decent paint job for even 5k.

Watch some videos on it. It's a real skill. I drove myself nuts just trying to get the fender stripes on my car. I want to re-do my roof because it's peeling at the front edge, but I don't think I can get it right.
If you want it done right, it won't be cheap.

I think about all the things we could have done, all the miracles we could have achieved, if we were all just a little bit better than it turns out we are.

I would pay a company to do it. I figure its gonna last the car 10 or so years.

Hes not wrong. Macco seems to be a little cheaper than 3500 but not much.
Besides it doesnt matter, I dont want a shit paint job. I dont care to pay, but paint jobs are just outrageous right now.

I had a Macco job on my first car. My dad and I did the prep work and it was $600. This was back in 2002 though. Though it looks like on Maccos website they are offering a basic paint job for $599 right now :d ontknow:
Also had my stealth repainted after it was keyed in 2007 if I remember right. It was a decent job and it was $3800.
However a good paint job is going to cost $5k min. I think J-groove had his VR4 painted for cheaper, but it took a while and was a side job.
Its like my dad always told me, good, fast, and cheap you can pick any 2 of those. .

I tried painting my hood. I don’t need to do any prep work. I failed hard core at that. Had to have someone else paint it again.
I would love a paint job but it will be more than 5k since I can’t do prep and I want a decent paint.
Vinyl seems to be a decent choice.

From what I've seen and read, your paint/body work has to be relatively nice underneath (no rock chips/scratches etc.), or the vinyl wrap is going to look bad.
