Fuel system cleaner - worth it or snake oil?

Post by Duck Vader »

Debating on buying a bottle of it and adding it to my next fill up.

Are these things worth it or are modern fuels good enough?

Supposidly the Shell/Chevron/Mobil/Texaco's have better fuel and additives, so over lots of miles they tend to look better.

For the pour in stuff it depends on the manufacturer. I remember there really only being some expensive stuff working well in a single dose. The other stuff not so much. Best case scenario is they just clean up the spray pattern on your injectors and get you some MPG back.

I don't fill up at a top tier station so debating on running a bottle once a month or something. Fred meyer with fuel points tends to save me 25 cents or more a gallon. It saves me about $20 a month. Not sure if worth it or if I should switch to a top tier place.

Debating on doing the additive since I don't go top tier. Which is in itself questionable

I still love sea foam. No idea if it’s doing anything, and I bet not on direct injection motors. But my vr4 gets some and so does the avalanche.

From the stuff I have read some are supposedly better than others. Redline is supposed to be good as is the super concentrated Berryman and the high concentration techron in a bottle. I'm like Coop I still like seafoam.
