Legal Holden Ute

Post by Jeff V. »

I want it. I want it now.

I think about all the things we could have done, all the miracles we could have achieved, if we were all just a little bit better than it turns out we are.

He said "less than" 40k. :p

I'd find a Chevy SS that had been rear ended and use that for a donor car. Then get a VF Ute back-half.

I guess it’s cool in its own way but you can say the same for a fixed up Baja or a newer turbo diesel Gladiator as well.

They are cool but there are a lot of other 2 seat cars I'd buy for 40k before those.

I feel like it could be done a lot cheaper if you didn't pay a shop. But I don't have a place where I can split two cars in half, so it's really just daydreaming at this point.

What is the cost of shipping a car over anyways?

I think it would just be the cost of a 20 foot container. You fill it with whatever you want. As long as customs doesn't give you a hard time, it should be easy. I don't think they'd care too much about a stripped body with no interior or drivetrain.

From when I used to do international sea shipping a 20' container runs around $2000. That was from Baltimore port to Chile. I am sure going to/from Australia will be more, then you have the cost of getting the container to the shipping port, and the cost of getting from the destination port to a shipping location.

The way to make it cost less is to get someone to partner with you and fill the container with things they need.

Exactly. It wouldn't make sense to put one car body in it and shoulder the cost yourself. You'd need to work with a shop or something to bring over a lot of stuff.

That's dumb. At least it's just a render.
