You all say that but engines and transmissions have a lifespan. I think more of its life is over than infront of it.

These Toyota 4.7s are known for running forever. With proper oil change and timing belt changes this truck has another 150k+ in it no problem.

150k is nothing for these. Basic maintenance and they'll run 500k

This isn't a GM where you have to start worrying about the transmission once you hit 100k miles.

You all are funny, a couple people may have made it to 500k and all of them can go to them. Are GMs tranny worse, sure. But that vehicle isnt making it to 500k with basic maintaincs.

Including what I have right now, Ive only owned one other. A Chevy blazer.
Had an izusu, celica, another celica, blazer, accord, crv, Mitsubishi, and now ford.
So no, I havnt...this comes from car makers wanting to sell parts and stay in buisness and make money.

You don't know Toyotas.
My dad had a Yota pickup that had 330k on it when he got rid of it. The only failure it ever had was the rear end letting go at 310k.
The last place I worked for had a Toyota T1000 that was used as a work truck. They got rid of it with around 315k miles on it and there was a bidding war on it.
They also had a Tacoma with 190k miles on it with only basic maintenance. The only reason they got rid of it because the GM slid on some ice and went over an embankment and wrecked it. They got something like $8500 from insurance to fix it (it wasn't totalled) and just decided to sell it and they sold it for $4800.

You're not a good one to comment on this. You refused to do basic maintenance on your CR-V.

Because I was over the vehicle. It was reliable even at 220k....thats a long way from 500k. To think a vehicle can go to 500k with basic maintance is just crazy. How many 400k vehicles do you see? How many 200k?
200k is normal.
I agree. I see 200k often. But to say its under half its life at 200 just doesnt make sense. But I am gonna guess Chris will put on 100k miles and sell it around 250k. And yes that vehicle will do 250k but you will start to realize its not a 500k vehicle.

Quite a few come thru the shop with 300+. We have a couple regulars with 400+.
It's less surprising to see one make it that far without major repairs than it is to see one make it that long without being wrecked.
I've got a Ford and a chevy both with 200+, 2 Toyotas with 250, and a Honda with 340k

Re: It's over... Time for a Tree
On the west coast it's way more common than you think. Seriously trust us. When I was shopping for Toyota/Lexus Truck/suv with this drive train I'd see LOTS with over 200k and seeing 250k+ wasn't uncommon either. Rust and neglect are about the only things that will kill these. Besides I put so few miles on my cars it doesn't matter too much.
