That tax break applies to all electric cars. He won't be able to do it without amending the law, and I'm sure GMs lawyers could easily tie it up in court challenges until the new Congress is sworn in on Jan 3.

I am curious to see what kind of lease I could get. If that payment is relatively low it might make sense to go that route instead of buying.

Scarily enough I also agree with Coop. The reality is even though I was shopping before I was rear-ended in the Exploder. If it hadn't been declared a total loss I'd likely still be driving it because of how expensive it would be to replace it properly.

I can get into a 2018 Premium on lease, with trading in my car, for about $125-150 more a month than I pay now...

If you figure 150 more a month, not including if insurance goes up, over the next 3 years, that is $5400+ For that much I can pay for any issues with the Volt that might come up over the next 3 years. Will get rid of it though before 2021 or 100k miles though. That is when the battery warranty goes away.
