Buying vehicle rant

Post by DCIV »

I’ve been trying to find a Ford Escape with the right miles and price. Literally found one at a local dealership that they got in Friday...did the inspection and cleaning....put it in the lot Monday...I was there Tuesday morning and it was gone!

Still even then, I hate buying from dealers. I wanted to spend around 13k. But apparently that’s hard to find with the miles I want. No biggie right? Raise the price a little and then just be done with this. Nope. Next couple I find are right around 16k. But then you have dealer fees, taxes, over 18k after it’s all said and done. Far way from 13k.

Buying from a person is so much nicer, write whatever you want on the title, no dealer fees, usually can talk down....but nooooo, the newer the car, the harder it is to find from a person.

At this point I’m tempted to do the maintance on the crv and drive it longer.

/rant.

With a dealer once they start tacking on all those fees you simply start negotiating. I basically got all the fees waived when I bought my Lancer by simply refusing to pay the total they wanted. It went from over 16k to right at 15k out the door with warranty, fees, taxes, title, etc.

I walked out of 3 places buying my wife’s edge, this no haggling places don’t care.

Yeah a lot of traditional dealers are now saying they are no haggle, but they still play the same old added on fees games.

Maintenance? You're getting out of the crv because of maintenance?

It’s 215k. It’s time to get something different. Random hoses are going bad, original water pump and I think timing belt, leaks oil around the coil, ac sucked even when right because it’s made for a civic. I just need something more dependable and ac that works.

So I check car gurus almost every day. I like how it shows me their innovatory, and if I’ve looked at it. Well one popped up at my car guys place, so I txt him and he says it’s the 1.6 but the vin says 2.0. So I head up there.

Basically they got a new 2.0 one in but it’s got 90k miles on it and somehow they have the miles switched with a 1.6.

Dangit. This place needs to get their act together.

It's all about trying to walk away several times, they will usually cave. When I bought my Q50 said I no 3 times and dragged it out over 4 days and ended up getting them down $2500 under what they were asking and getting an extra 500 on my trade in. It's all a big game.
[thestealth] It's not every laborador-sized mammal that gets a damned APC named after it, but the Honey Badger isn't your typical member of the Mammalia class. He's a brutal, vicious killer who kicks asses, never backs down, never registers fear, destroys everything in its path and then adorably trots off into the sunset with his prey in his teeth and the severed nutsacks of his enemies still gripped between his dagger-like claws. It's a badass animal.

Ford dealership called me back. They finally got theirs done with the recall. It’s got 70k for 13. I could drive 100 miles and get 50k for 13, plus it’s black!

Don’t know what to do. Getting tired of this bull.

It’s not the power that bugs me. The thing has plenty of power. It’s it very limited speed. Now that it has cup holders and a spot for me to put a stereo, it’s basically the same as my crv. No AC and okay heat. Lol.

I'll give you 5k for it. That'll be a nice down payment on an Escape.
