Dsm’s using Saturn alternators

Post by DCIV »

https://www.dsmtuners.com/threads/impor ... ap.344794/

I’m sure this is known to the people who mess with dsm’s but some are using Saturn alternators. Just thinking out loud, would the tt ones not an upgrade? If not are the Saturn alternators an upgrade for us?

I have a higher output alt, so this is nothing more than curiosity.

Quick search shows the Saturn alternator is 96 amps and uses a 5 rib pulley.

Right. They don’t care about the extra rib. I already read that.

A quick search says the stock 3S is 110 amps so it's better than the Saturn one.

That reminds me I read an article that said the original eclipse was a "JDM legend"

Also, it looks like from pictures that the mounting tabs are different on a 3/S compared to a DSM, and the Saturn alternator looks closer (though still different) to the DSM.

If the 3S TT alternator was an easy upgrade for the DSM, it would have been done years ago. My guess is it is not, and that's why it's not done.

Seems like they are having to do the wiring and bracket to mount it. If I have to make a bracket I would rather not have to do wiring. I’m willing to bet the wiring is the same, along with the ribs. Maybe it’s all wrong bracket but seems like someone could get a bracket made, have more power, and easier wiring.

Eh just something that goes through coop mind.
