Thoughts on a Jaguar XF Supercharged
Been looking for something more roomy and comfortable than my Cobalt SS. Also kinda want something fast. Browsing Jaguar XFs and came across this:

Any thoughts on Jaguar as of late in general or the XF Supercharged specifically? What about buying off eBay motors or sight unseen in general?

I don't know anything about that car in particular. But it'd scare the hell out of me with no warranty.

Yeah I'm balling on a budget so if I get any kind of luxury vehicle it'll likely be sans warranty. From what I've read so far, I haven't heard any complaints about major problems with them. It was in an accident that it was hit in the rear, pushed into the car in front, and disabled it, but it was pretty early in its life. I also know there's reason luxury cars depreciate so quickly.

thats a lot of car for the money. They were fords then right?

A quick search says that Ford sold it to Tata in 2008 and they had an agreement for ford to continue to supply parts.

And people thought I was looking at unreliable cars

Wikipedia says that generation is an updated Ford DEW98 platform. Same as the Lincoln LS, Thunderbird, and the prior Jag S-Type.
With that said, it's not the chassis I'd be worried about. It's the engine and electronics.

Is there anyone near you that specialized in Jaguars or European cars in general? Since there's no warranty, you should really try to find someone knowledgeable to give you an impartial opinion.

There is an independent Euro shop about 30 min from me. Gonna give them a call and see if they can offer any input.

Even if you have to pay a couple hundred out of pocket for an inspection now, it could save you thousands later.
There's one other car I can think of that fits your bill. The 2010-2013(ish) Taurus SHO. Twin turbo, AWD, better technology package...

The shop said that they do service them, but don't see enough to have any input on common problems. They recommended I call a dealer. After some further digging, some people report having to replace the blower at various mileage due to coupling or bearing failure or lobe wear.

I looked at the Taurus but the more I look at them, the uglier I think they are. Interested in the CTS-V but they're out of my price range. I can sacrifice high HP as that's more of a want than a need for my next car. As long as I shop with my head instead of my heart anyway.

Really pushing the Nissan aren't you?
Re: Thoughts on a Jaguar XF Supercharged
I like the Q50 and the G37 quite a bit. Those are on my list. Definitely more comfortable with the reliability of them. Test drove a G35 a few years ago and it was really nice but a little soft for what I wanted at the time. Strongly thinking about revisiting the brand.
Re: Thoughts on a Jaguar XF Supercharged
The older Q50s have a VQ37 V6. As far as I know, that engine is pretty stout.

From what I've seen with 3rd hand owners of higher end German cars.... If you can't afford a new Japanese luxury car, you can't afford to own a used European luxury car. (Though this is more directed at Germans)
It is literally a 4 digit bill every time it visits the shop for something more than an oil change.
Definitely give the G37 a second look. You get a whole lotta car for the money

You had a warranty right?
Also you do most stuff yourself. My comment applies to those who don't.
