Little back story. Bought the Ex-wife a Mazda 2 as a wedding present. Brand new! Loved the car so much I bought a second one for myself.






In the 5 years we were married she put almost 75k on hers and I only put 33k on mine. She wrecked hers a couple months ago and I gave her mine like a fool....

They are hard to find in perfect condition used and they stopped importing them in 2014. Mine was one of the last available back then! Was lucky to even get it.

Toyota does offer this car in sedan form with their logos on it and front bumper. Literally changed nothing else. It’s still the Mazda 2 we know and love. Was waiting for the 2019s to come out as Toyota are finally importing the other trims besides the entry level. ....but it’s not the hatchback I fell in love with!

This seems like a great option. A fellow Mazda 2 enthusiasts already made contact with a dealership there who is willing to work with us Main-landers and they have two in stock. He doesn’t want white but I will take it!




His local DMV will accept the MSO and Bill of Sale to register the car. I still need to check with PA but I anticipate it’ll be fine. My insurance company who handled the Exocet and Type R should be able to insure the vehicle for me so I’m not worried about that either.

Let’s see if this works!

We dont always agree Coop but Im with you here.

Buying lots of new cars, trading inf or newer, or just keeping them and making that payment ties up cash flow real quick and isnt a solid ROI. Im sure Greg already knows. My suggestion is to narrow down to 1 new car and start saving a bunch, so you can put money down on a house. The more the better too, especially if you can get enough down to not worry about mortgage insurance.

Eh, we argee more than you think. But I’m sure greg knows this too, it’s just what do you actually want? Can’t get distracted like buying a Humvee.

Maybe it's getting too nosy, but I just can't understand how you're going through this many cars in this short a time span without absolutely losing your ass.

Two Type Rs, the FD RX7, the Exocet, how many NA/NB Miatas, two ND Miatas, two Mazda 2s, the Acura...

I could see turning a profit on the FD and maybe the 2nd Type R, but that's still a whole lot of depreciating assets.

Made a LOT of $$ selling the Exocet, RX7 and insurance from the first Type R. A lot...

Lost $250 on the Acura...

I’m gonna lose my butt on the Miatas but that’s what happens when you drive cars. They’re commuting me to a job that is making me good $$ and cost per mile is cheaper than many cars.

It goes both ways. I’d hate to see how much you all lost on your vehicles as well.

Alright....

So the deal with property has to do with my new relationship. She has 3.25 acres and I’ve got enough saved to dive in, share the mortgage and build the shop on her property and even take care of some things with the house.

While financially this is beneficial for both of us, it’s way too early in the relationship to make these kind of commitments. Especially since she can’t really pay me back if we separated...

As for getting my own property, this option is on the table too but it’s really really really expensive to own property in the North East and gets even more ludicrous as you get closer to Philly where I work... so much so that I’d rather continue paying rent (which is way way way unusually cheap for what most people pay around here) drive 3500 miles a month and continue saving while we continue to either grow together or apart. I’m thinking 2 years is enough time but we will see. Losing the garage was a huge blow...

Second. For the most part people here care about each other, one of the reasons I stay. So don’t take it as wtf greg, take it as greg, we get you have tons of time but focus!

Actually a bit of a funny story related to that.. We do make pretty good ice cream (it is very different from let's say Italian gelato, so good in a different way.. Beth was exposed to it and QUITE liked it hah) and Norwegians eat a LOT of it. 15 years ago or so a Swedish ice cream brand tried to break into the Norwegian market. It lasted less than a year. They were ridiculed for the taste, the flavors, the ingredients and production methods.. and promptly pulled out again haha. Back off our ice cream, Swedes!
