Humvee air

Post by DCIV »

No not A/C lol.

Air for airing up tires, air for tools, compressed air!

Today I got my hands on a 2216 fire scba bottle. I want to get an adapter, regulator, and air chuck....then find a place to mount it! No compressor, no noise, just simple!

So if there's no compressor, how do you fill it up? Or do you just charge it at home and hope you have enough air for whatever you're doing?

This thing is a backpack? I don't get it.

It fills to 2,216psi..,.you arnt filling that at home. Almost every fire station has a way to fill bottles. Takes less than 5 mins. I am just using the bottle. Not the pack. The bottle comes in and out. I need a high pressure regulator though.

Ok. I didn't realize that it filled to that pressure. That's insane.

I was trying to get a 4500 bottle. So to a degree yes.

I’ve worked around them for 15 years. In EXTREME environment. With people who TRY and break shit. Literally slam them around. And never even seen one take out of service. Never seen one fail a hydro.
Don't get in a wreck...
Sure. It’s possible but I think there are plenty of things that can go bad on a car in a wreck.

So it'll do insane pressures, but what about volume? Doesn't matter if it's 5000 psi if it's coming through an opening the size of a drink straw.

I can see it now. Coop hooks up a hose to this tank and inflates a tire. Coop succeeds and enjoys a several day hospital visit. H1 now needs new tires.

If we were talking about a free air tool like an air gun then you would be right. To inflate a tire totally different.

Let me put it this way, people already do this. Our rescue squad used the exact set up for an air chisel and get 7 mins of constant use. Local tripple A guy uses the same set up to fill up flats, hasn’t charged it in over 20 fill ups. People online say it will fill up 8-10 37” tires from single digits to 25 psi.

I can get you the exact amount of cubic air if you want.

Hence why I want a regulator.
