So far all I've got is a creaky roof. I need to take it off and see if there's anything I can lube or adjust.
I think about all the things we could have done, all the miracles we could have achieved, if we were all just a little bit better than it turns out we are.

There is a service bulletin for squeaky roof that replaces the pins and strikers. Mine hasn't creaked, so it is still the original parts. I've also seen a kit available at some of the general Corvette aftermarket vendors.

I read that, but I'm not sure it'll help me. The noise I'm hearing is from the back, around the halo area. One of the guys on the forum mentioned he had some trim pieces where the felt insulation wasn't attached properly. I'm going to make sure all that is in order before I spend $200 on latch hardware.

If it is just weatherstrip noise, put some Gummi Pflege on it.

I've still got an entire tube of Krytox left over from the Spyder.

Krytox works great too, but spendy. You can still get new Corvette weatherstripping.

I think they updated the rear roof weather strip in 15 or 16. I need to take a picture the next time I take the roof off. When I put it back on, there's these little pieces of the weatherstrip that end up poking out if I don't tuck them back in. It doesn't seem right to me. I don't think it's related to the creaking and it's not something I think is worth the money and effort to fix right now, but it's not right.

BTW, I just bought a 3 day pass to GMs service information system. Let me know if you need any bulletins, service procedures, schematics, etc.

I would have never guessed this is a thing. How much does that cost?

$20.
It gives you access to all of GMs service manuals and bulletins going back to the early 90s.
I needed to download some schematics and other info that wasn't available in my AlldataDIY subscription.

Some people on the Corvette forum were asking me some questions about my HMI upgrade. So I've dipped my toe in the YouTube pool
Let me know what you guys think.

Wonder if YouTube will be a "gateway social media"
Good video!
Is there any way to make the custom car setup stuff work, or is it all buried in the code, and not really worth it?

The HMI unit runs Linux. So in theory it's possible to figure out why the menu is broken and re-enable it. It's just a wild guess, but I think GM changed something in the CAN messaging between 2014 and 2016.
Actually doing it is another story. I've got no experience disassembling Linux files. This would be more like hacking a smartphone rather than a car part. The code is absolutely massive compared to something like an engine computer. The worst part is, it's cryptographically signed by GM. So even if I could find the problem and fix it, there may not be a way to actually install the patch on the module.
It's so far over my head, it's not funny.

Interesting. So like you said in the video, you are happy with the outcome, even though you lost that menu.

Yeah. It was a good trade off. I wouldn't mind being able to turn on the heavier steering in tour mode, but it's not that big a deal.

Like the video...
I wouldn't mind getting CarPlay in mine, but I have Nav so it isn't a huge deal. I'll probably just switch to a C8 when they come out anyways, so likely not worth redoing my infotainment.
A supercharger though, that might still be worth doing......

If you buy the supercharger itself used, it looks like you can do a Z06 setup for 5-6k. That's nuts.
I'm just not that excited about the mid engine car for some reason. Maybe that'll change when it comes out, but I'm just not that interested in it. If I trade up to anything, it'll be a collector edition Grand Sport.

Re: The timing is wrong. But also right. AKA Jeff buys a sports car in winter.
Yeah, I've been seeing some really good deals on the Z06 supercharger hardware. Procharger seems like the better way to go though. Easy to take off for trading the car in and reselling the Procharger. Seems like a fair amount of work to get the Z06 charger on. Needs adapter plates to the heads, etc. Not a big deal, but just more to do. Procharger looks fairly painless of an install.
