engine has been put back together...

Post by vr4 »

this is from my old 91. it now has ported/polished heads, 1mm o/size intake and exhaust valves, PRM 264 cams, and DR dual valve spings/crower retainers.

hot air consists of twin TD05 18Gs secured to old school AAM manifolds, custom rear O2 housing, stock DSM cast front O2 housing, DR/titan downpipe, and a custom adapter from front O2 housing to downpipe (made from stock 05 F150 exhaust. 2.5" mandrel bent 16ga steel)

fidanza FW/DXD clutch. power steering pump and alternator the only accessories bolted to the engine (no AC or 250lb AC bracket). 3$x motor mounts. stock awd 5 speed and STOCK 18 spline OS (help me out here NBT. i have 2 18 spline bellhousings. i dont want to go 25 just to get your shaft)

pics to come tomorrow.

cracked cam gear. not the greatest pic but you can see it. much more noticable when loaded by the belt. oddly enough the other cam gear i just put on has a crack too but its only on one of the legs. not 3. im gonna slap a couple small tack welds on it and see how it holds. if not....i have 6 other gears to choose from (including the 97)
Image

Image

dont mind the welds. i had 1/4" gap at some spots around the O2 housing side flange.

Steve, that looks bad fucking ass. I wish my rotors would come, because then i could get some pics of the stealth. And I would also be able to go to the 3/s meet.

Fuck man, this sucks.

Looks real good. I do vote for some simple green and engine paint. But then again, my friend who was helping me build my engine made fun of me for how I kept on cleaning and painting it.

< jealous of the TD05's

I forget, did you keep the '97?

the IC pipe is about half inch above the manifold. i need to address it with a heat shield and wrapping the ic pipe. i also have to wrap the rear due to clearance above the turbine housing.

i hope to get the coupler i need tomorrow. rrev didnt have any in stock today.

i set it up to make sure i know how the pipes go and to see if i need anything.

as you can see i need a 90* coupler. took pics (there are a bunch more) so i wont have to fight with them 700 miles from home.

I like the oil cap. Let me know if that fixes our spun bearings problem j/king. Did you do anything like refreash the bearings? Any engine mods? What are the other supporting mods?

thats my custom PCV breather. preents blowing out the dipstick. only supporting mods are a supra and 720cc injectors. this is not the final version of the motor. this is just a literally weekend build (as of last sunday the heads wernt on it) just to get a car drivable. when thats taken care of the engine will come back out and be done properly. new bearings, oil pump, proper brackets to tension the alt belt. i might even make a bracket to relocate the alt down to the ac compressor location. (im leaing the AC and its mounting bracket off)

heres a pic of #6 bearing. about what i expected from an 80k motor that was pushed hard.

I still wish we would have gotten pictures of graysons bearings during his 120k. Carnage doesn't even begin to describe it. Adam said he guessed The Mad Scientist only had about 10 more miles left on those bearings.
Yeah, I'm alive.
