Dodge caravan seat heater controls (prob a Jeff question)

Post by DCIV »

Emailed the guy on eBay selling seats and this was his response.

“Actually, a lot of the Dodge Caravan seats that I sell are bought to be used in humvees. If you search for ebay item number 132290226204 you can check them out. They have heaters built in and armrests. They cost a bit more than these seats you messaged on, but they are leather and they actually have sliders on the bottom already that you can bolt to that will make installation fairly simple if you are handy.”

He said he would make sure mine had the seat heaters. Here is my question...what all do I need to find from a dodge caravan to work? Or just another controller?

I would venture to say that as long as the switch is there and some wiring that you can make it work with nothing else other than some additional wire and accessory power.

I’m sure it needs some sort of power regulator to control how hot the seats are.

If the switch is on the arm rest it might have a regulator built in for high and low amperage.

The switch on the arm rest? I don’t think that would be a smart place to put one.

I just need to know if I need to find the switch from a Carovan or a control and a switch. I’m sure Jeff could find or tell me or know where to look.

I'd need a wiring diagram. If it's got a control module, forget it. It probably won't work when separated from the rest of the van.

Those look like 2nd row fold-flat seats anyway. Try to find front seats from an older van. They'll require less wiring.

Yeah, the control module is probably going to have failsafes in it which you want. Could always just buy a kit online for like $20 and add it in.

The seats are from a 2017. Just FYI. Will look up stuff later.

Cool site, I have to be careful....there isn’t a whole lot of room to put a seat. I know suburban seats are just too wide. I also want to make sure what I buy will hold up to rain/sun/hot/cold and not be worthless in 2 years.
