The trans and oil pan are both aluminum. They're very stiff. Remember that the transmission has 6 big bolts holding it to the block too.

The whole assembly should move as a unit, so there shouldn't be any shifting at the bell housing.

Yeah there is no reason the trans should move separate from the engine block. With how many big ass bolts hold them together.

The eclipse pan won’t bolt up to our trans. It’s a little shorter. Probably due to the different fwd trans it hooks to. Luckily the sorento engine and trans are almost an exact copy of the early SR trucks. It’s a perfect fit except for 2 pan bolts. One of which you can alter to work.

Not at all. It’s a snug fit. The pan is super stout cast aluminum.

It’s a perfect fit except for 2 pan bolts. One of which you can alter to work.

I was checking all that last night when I discovered the issue with the long bolts. I was just going to drill two new holes in the block.

And risk getting metal shavings in the block? I just drilled the one hole in the pan. More than enough to secure it. No leaks on mine.

They are the only place I've seen that part. I probably have some around that I won't end up using (likely going to one of the big Fuelab pump setups with E-FPR).

If it really is a custom piece and not something they found deep in some catalog, then I could see it being worth $30. I'll look around a little more.

If you've got one you're not using, I'll pay you full price for it. If not, GZP has it listed, so I'll buy it from them.

If you're interested, I've got some unused AN parts that I never used on my Stealth. Some straight ends and a few of the pricey Y fittings. If they're the right size for your setup, maybe we can work up some kind of swap.

Think it over and let me know. It'll be a week or two before I need it.

I bought the AN version, when I made my own fuel line in the back to go from the tank to the hard lines under the car. I used Permatex thread sealer, and it hasn't leaked a single drop ever. :d ontknow:

Got a late start. Stayed up too late playing Gran Tursimo with Vira.

Anyway, I got the dash and HVAC stuff out. I needed to get all that out of the way so I can cut the hole for the MIVEC solenoid and weld in the new pocket. Going to hopefully mock up that and the motor mount tomorrow.

That’s quite a bit of work. I must note that black paint looks good! Amazing how shallow that firewall is as well. Guess I didn’t realize. What will you use to mock up your box?

BTW Jeff how much does the ‘08 solenoid bracket bracket cost?

The part number is 1028A081. At a glance, it's $130-ish.

The one from the Pajero (different part number) is only $86 on Amayama, but it'd be over $100 by the time I ship it.

For the mock up, I'm going to cut the hole, then drop the engine in. Once I'm sure the hole has enough clearance, I'll box it in with some cardboard. Then transfer the cardboard template to sheet metal. The Project Binky guys call it Cardboard Aided Design.

What are you unhappy with? Looks like that brake booster is super close and looks like you might not have needed such a big cut for your mivec controller.

How's the motor mount? Is the ps belt gonna fit and work on all of that?

I'm just fed up with things not lining up, things not fitting at all, and no matter how many times I measure something, it's still off. It feels like I'm wrong more often than I'm right. Everything has been a string of mistakes on this stupid truck just because I had to do it 'different'.

The hole was intentionally too big. I had this idea of tapering it into the transmission tunnel, but that's probably not going to work out either.

The accessories will work fine. Steve proved that with his truck.

That's part of hot roding things. I always love how you make things factory and when they work out it's amazing but at the end of the day you are doing something different. Don't get frustrated at that, enjoy that part. That's the part that makes you do it and someone else quit.

The fact you got it in there, and the engine is sitting in the truck is a HUGE accomplishment. I mean heck Mitsubishi has whole teams that spend YEARS getting everything designed to fit properly.

I think it is pretty cool to have a nice modern 6G75 in an old Mighty Max. My Max was never anywhere near as sweet...

That little truck sure took a hell of a lot of abuse from me though.

Any thoughts on how to address the wild lack of traction in the back? I drifted mine around corners on a regular basis on those little tires and leaf spring suspension.
