The saga that will be Coop living with a retired HMMWV.

So I bid on a humvee....didn't think I was gonna win, did.

Right now I have to wire transfer almost 7k after tax and title.

Then I have to fill out forms for a background check that could take up to 12 weeks.

Then I can pick this thing up.

This will be my diary of getting my humvee.

There are deff good and bad things. Yes it's only the 3 speed. So speed is limited. It's bought undriven. I love the oil specs, love the oil press and other things.

They also have manual to fix and repair these things so monkeys could follow. So I should be able to fix anything on it.

But getting it titled and insured along with some air ride seats are deff needed.

There's plenty of manuals, they'll go off road, ford streams, etc. They aren't particularly comfortable, there's not even a radio, and the top speed isn't exactly awesome. They're very utilitarian.

That'd involve digging into TN law, but they do have headlights, turn signals, seat belts, etc. Speaking of it being very utilitarian though, the turn signal stays on and doesn't beep. You have to notice the small flashing light on the knob and manually turn it off. Until you manually turn on the lights the signals & horn don't work, that way they don't get accidentally bumped. There's no ignition key, you just flip an On switch (again, for obvious reasons).

Looks like there MAY be hope if Tennessee has an option to convert off road vehicles for on road use. You'd basically be registering it like a dune buggy that someone added lights and a horn to.

It's probably not going to be easy though.

Interested in what kind of towing rig you are going to use to get it home. A regular car hauler trailer might be too narrow.

The AR15 link says it'll fit on an UHaul trailer. But you have to lie to UHaul due to the weight.

The auction offers shipping via a company called Veritread. Looks like $810 for OH to TN. That's a bargain in my opinion.

I called up nashville when I was first looking, they said as long as my county doesnt require emissions testing there isn't an issue. We dont require it, plus I purposely wanted a little older so I might find a place as an Antique type thing. The site will issue me a full title, I'm just going to take it to the DMV and see what they say first of all.

Yes Jeff is right they will ship it right tot me for 810.....kind of thinking of driving it back though. I mean really....you gonna pull over a humvee?

This....if I mess up then I sell it. I think if it comes down too it there are a lot of farms around here and I might be able to get it put into a Farm vehicle and those things drive on the road out here all the time.

But again, I called up nashville before I ever started looking...they acted like it wasn't any big deal.

No the top speed isn't huge, but again, its to take trips to lowes, move stuff, take me to work when it snows. This isn't suppose to be a F150...boring! I am not taking this thing all over the country, I am using it for around town.
