I hate the C7 in white with the black plastic vents. Ugh.

I second this.. I am not a fan of white cars in general. The girl drives a BMW 4 series coupe in white and it has actually grown on me. I think some cars look good in white but in general.. nope.

I fit in a c7 as long as it's an auto. Can't fit my leg between the steering wheel and door to get my foot on the clutch.
It's a tight fit but comfortable enough.

Re: Why should I not?
If you are picking a C7 automatic, I'd try to get a 2015 or later to get the 8-speed automatic instead of the old 6-speed. If I had to pick between a C6 today or a C7 in a year, I'd save my pennies for that year.
For those who don't like the carbon flash vents on a white (or whatever color) C7, there is/was an option to get the C7 vents in body-color paint, so you may see some with that option - though I don't think that has been a popular pick.

I don't recall seeing very many of those at all. Would it really be that hard to pop them out and paint them though? It blows my mind that people pay $600 to get them painted at the factory.Matt wrote:For those who don't like the carbon flash vents on a white (or whatever color) C7, there is/was an option to get the C7 vents in body-color paint, so you may see some with that option - though I don't think that has been a popular pick.

Yeah, that's a lot of money for changing the paint color on a few parts. I wouldn't pay it. But I also think the carbon flash vents look sweet, so go figure.
If you don't care for the vents, the convertible doesn't have the rear ones behind the door so that's an option also.

Re: Why should I not?
Are the A8 problems really that common? Saw some stuff on the forums how they seem to be have problems?
Re: Why should I not?
Early on there seemed to be some issues with the flex plate or something like that, but mine hasn't had any issues. Don't really hear about problems anymore, at least where I've been reading. Mine was a little harsh on the initial shift into first gear after startup, but a software update fixed it up.

Re: Why should I not?
Have you guys heard if any of the GM direct injection engines (including the LTx) have been suffering from carbon buildup in the intake ports? It's pretty common on older DI engines from other manufacturers. I think Toyota finally fixed it by installing a traditional low pressure fuel injector in the intake with the sole purpose of washing out carbon build up.

Re: Why should I not?
Yeah, people have noted oil in the intake of the C7. I have the Elite Engineering catch can setup on my car and it is totally clean in the intake plenum, and I get about 1/2 a cup of nasty looking oil every 3000 miles or so in the catch can.

Re: Why should I not?
Been thinking about this.
$35-40k is about an average C7 seems to be going for. That just seems like a lot for a "weekend toy".
So this has been my current thoughts. What would be better? C5 for about $15k and put $5-10k in mods in it. C6 for roughly $20k and put about $5k in mods. Or just save up for a couple years and get the C7?
For looks it goes C7, C6, C5. Same with interior. But that is a pretty big difference in $ for each generation.

You're still planning on getting another car?

A fun one for us. I have the Volt as a daily. The misses has the Soul for her. We want a fun "weekend" car that might see a couple track days as well as be nice for long drives.
Also, the Camaro is not off the table yet either.
We will be getting either a Vette or Camaro. Just a matter of time and finding the right deal.

Re: Why should I not?
What about a GTO or G8? I know pontiac is now defunct so some parts might be hard to come by going forward, but by all accounts, they are both fun and fast.

Re: Why should I not?
That and there has been so many times in my life that I almost bought a Vette or a Camaro that I should just do it and get it over with.
Re: Why should I not?
Right on. I just saw a G8 this morning on the commute and for whatever reason it made me think of your car hunt.
