Also, you have the msport lci bumper currently, the one in the first comparison picture is a regular lci bumper.

Actually, i think the two piece grill is sedan only, now that i think about it, and e93 is obviously based on the coupe. The headlights are still differently shaped slightly, and the grill and hood are different. They look near identical on the coupes, but they are different.

found it, here is an e92 which should be the same as yours. Very subtle differences, but they are there.

My kidneys are for sure one piece I just popped the hood to check... The bumper wraps around the top of them and the hood has the bumps to go over them. This bumper is base model coupe it just has an aftermarket lower lip added. Is there a Selma m3 rep bumper for lci coupe cars? I can't find one...

Looking at the coupe picture above of the blue vs red e92... the red one is the '11 model which is totally different headlights.

Did a bunch of searching and think I finally found the answer... for e92/e93 LCI starts at the '11 model. For e90 models the LCI started at '09 models... this explains why all m3 rep coupe front bumpers say pre-LCI and list a date range of '07 through '10.

Thanks, it seems to be a really nice car so far. It was just FILTHY from being a victim of NY city streets (Manhattan) the last couple years. Here are some pictures of the “shop” in the Bronx where it was being worked on/stored when I went to pick it up (had been in there with the top down for many weeks of course so interior was crusted with filth). It had been in TX prior to NY so hopefully the rust factor isn’t too bad.

I started clay barring the paint last night. I spent an hour on half the roof. I’ve never seen such a huge amount of black crap come off paint that has probably not been cleaned/waxed since new. Ordered $100 of new detailing pads and compounds last night to hopefully get it looking good again.

New front bumper ordered. New wheels/tires being ordered today. USB cable for the installed JB4 ordered.

After I get the exterior/interior cosmetics mostly completed I’ll tackle the mechanicals. Probably do some preventative maintenance including oil change, plugs/coils, water pump, o2 sensors, and anything else suggested.

Need to figure out if there is a way to easily correct the rear end suspension sag. Reminds me of a lot of 3S cars I’ve seen where the rear sits 0.5” lower than the front which bugs me for some reason.

You should buy a cheap android tablet (or use your phone) with the jb4 app. Maintenance sounds spot on, but i would do a walnut blast as well, along with valve cover gasket and oil filter housing gaskets. Do the belt too, its a bitch when it pops.

Water pump/tstat
Belt
Valve cover gasket
BOTH oil filter housing gaskets (one is called the oil cooler gasket)
Plugs and coils (Delphi GN10328 from amazon)
Walnut blast (harbor freight blaster, fine walnut, and the site below for the adapter to fit in the intake ports and wand/fitting to connect to the blaster, you will need intake mani gaskets for this as well)
I would also recommend Rob Beck PCV valve and BMS oil catch can to help prevent the carbon buildup from coming back.

Thanks for the service info I’ll put that on the to-do list.

I finished the clay bar and spent a few hours with medium cut compound this weekend. The paint is super rough. It looks like someone stored boxes on the dirty car… long scratches everywhere. I’m probably going to have to wet sand some of them a bit since compound isn’t going to cut it. Then again I’m really picky. My wife saw the car and thought it was beautiful now that its “shiny”.

Also discovered the rear bumper has been hit a few times. Lots of spider cracks in the clear coat and some damage that won’t buff out. Not sure how much will clean up with some wet sanding. I really don’t want to buy a rear bumper “yet” although if I decide to paint the front myself rather than finding a paint shop the cost wouldn’t be too bad. I’ve done a fair amount of body work but never shot a color with pearl/flake in it before. $350 for a good quality rear m-sport bumper isn’t too bad (plus diffuser).

Made some progress on leather seat cleaning. They are looking really good except for one small rub spot on the drivers bolster. I had leather interior guy do some color repair on my outlook before. I might see if he can work his magic on the coral red.

The aftermarket exhaust has an annoying rattle at idle which I can tell is just rubbing on the body somewhere which I need to tweak. No rush there though since I’m still a couple weeks out from having the title and getting the car registered I’m guessing.

It was raining much of the weekend or I’d have taken pictures. Ordered a service manual cd and wheels are on their way here. Need to order tires this week.

alright BMW guru's. How do BMW's AWD compare, car model, to platforms that brag about their AWD like Subaru?

Subaru has the best AWD, end of story. If you are looking at 335xi's, the awd cars are harder to find suspension and downpipes for. Doubly hard if you are looking at a 535xi.

not talking about suspension or upgrades. I am just talking about ability in snow given same tires as other vehicles. Like will it do as well as my awd crv? would it do as well as an audi?

that is damn impressive. Are all quattro systems the same? Did they ever make improvements for newer years?
