Keep in mind the processor on both the ECU and daughter board has been discontinued, and therefore will probally be very hard to get ahold of the chip to make more.
Based on the research I've done, the one on the card is just to translate the scrambled ROM code into something the original CPU can use.

That's the whole reason I want one though. We don't know. :(

I know that tight ass Shiver is hoarding a bunch of info about these things, but he's not sharing because he "might" find some way to shaft us some day like he did with his hybrid loggers.

OO that would be a wonderful project!

Finding out what kind of processor the ECUs used would be a nice start so you can start to get a idea of what kind of assembly was used to write the programs.

Looks like I'm going to pass on this. I can't dig up enough info on these to guarantee it's using a Techtom card. In light of that, I can't justify dropping the $400 on it :(

Oh well.

damn, I know it is a big risk. If I had $400 to spare I would try to get this just for the chance at it. Would have been a great project had it been possible.

Hmm, how long do you think it'd be available Jeff? Even if nothing came of it would it even be compatible or some kind of upgrade for hybrid cars?

I'd invest in it if it would be just a plug in upgrade of some sort, of course. Good question on which years it would compatible for.

The one that's listed is a 1G. Adapting the hardware to a 2G or hybrid should be simple enough.

The auction ended, and it's re-listed at Y32,000 (about $275, down from $300). The other $100 comes from fees from the proxy bidding company, and shipping out of Japan.

I finally got some useful feedback on 3S Tech. I got photos of a G-Force ECU, and a little bit of info on how it's built. Given the availability of something like an Emanage ultimate, it's really tough to justify R&D in something as complex as this.

So you don't think it would be worth trying it? What info did you find out about it? Enough to know it's not worth it I assume?

Cause if you thought it was doable, I'd be willing to pitch in some money towards it. That would be awesome if it was actually able to work out :)

Well, I fail.

I found a second Mine's ECU in Japan. This one was broken, and dirt cheap. The auction ended at $47. After fees and shipping, I ended up being out $115.

I just got it today. It doesn't have a daughtercard :( The factory MPU was replaced with a new one. The new one had the ID numbers ground off, so I knew even less about this than the stock one. :(

It's got a blown capacitor on it. I didn't look to see how badly damaged the board is. I'm rather discouraged at this point. Maybe I can find out exactly what was done to the tune and get it working again, and maybe sell it. I don't know.

I'm so disappointed :sulk:

That capacitor took out a few nearby parts, but I believe it could be repaired.

There are not enough cuss words in the english language to explain how I feel right now.

I've been trying to find one forever, and he just "happens" on a few of them.

Yeah, I think he is full of shit when he says he came across a few of them. He is from the UK, and there aren't too many 3/s over there. He knows he has something special.
