Left Hand Turn Signal and Key Prolbem

Post by JuJu »

This morning when I cranked up my 3000GT to warm it up and at the same time I turned on the lights, and as I walked away I noticed my left hand blinker light wasnt on. I thought the bulb may have died on me, but when I turn on the turn signal for that side it works perfectly, so I have no idea whats up with it, any ideas?

Also my key will fit in my driver side door but sometimes it wont turn any way, as if the key hole was locked. The passeneger side works fine, I was just wondering what was up with my Driver's side?

Thanks for any help.

Same thing happens with the drivers side lock on my base. Try squirting some penetrating oil in there a few times and let it do its thing. If that doesnt do it there's most likely something out of place inside.

The turn signal bulb has two filaments, its not uncommon for just one to burn out. Also the keys are a soft metal and small amounts come off every time they are used as they slide and push the tumblers, these little shards will eventually gum up the grease in the key hole and cause it to not work. I like to use some wd-40 to clean out the key, few shots with 4-5 second intervals, then apply some graphite lubricant (made for locks) if I can find it, that or some lithium grease. Lithium grease is water resistant and works great for parts that will deal with temp changes as it wont melt below a couple hundred degrees and it wont absorb water so it wont freeze up very easily. Good for garage doors, locks, hinges... whatever might see some hot and cold changes. Standard penetrating lube is not a long lasting lubricant.
