I had talked to them about that engine, I would suspect crank damage as they said it needed one piston AND rod

what i dont get is....how come no one makes the needed brackets to do this convo with a montero block? i mean the only difference is the pajero brackets....what not mock up some custom brackets...sell the kit for like $200 a kit and thus convince more ppl to go 3.5?

^my reasoning....not saying im doing it just thinking out loud and im bored so i want to talk about it

buy a blown longblock for dirt cheap $300 (i can find blown 3s longblocks for up to 150 so why not monteros)....
-strip it down
-buy a new mitsu montero 3.5L crank
-ross pistons
-machine the block and blance

have a fully assembled 3.5L shorty for 2500-3000 tops....then be left with misc. crap u dont need and get get rid of for a case of beer or whatever

just thinking

Does the Pajero convesion require a modified oil pan? (Besides adding oil returns). The Montero pan requires some pretty significant modification to fit. Even if conversion brackets were readily availabe for a Montero 3.5, the pan is still an issue. Is this not the case with a Pajero?

^regardless they should need oil lines for the turbos....wont a na 3s oil pan work on the montero and thus allow for clearance of the tcase?

Pretty sure all monteros are RWD configuation.

Regarding custom brackets, id bet my balls it would be a lot more than 200 bucks to have them made

The long block we got from them was the correct one. Just go there and pick the engine you want.
