Chrysler To offer..

Post by Chris95RT »

Yup, Chrysler to offer an Unlimited Lifetime Powertrain warenty on all cars sold after July 26th, 2007.
The program will be the first of its kind offered by any automaker, and it will apply to most new model-year 2006, 2007 and 2008 vehicles purchased from dealer inventory on or after July 26, 2007. The warranty will cover the cost of all parts and labor needed to repair covered powertrain components.
Hey, when you need business, you do ca-raaaaaaaazy things. I for one like the new Chrysler :D

From what I'm reading it's only for the initial buyer, doens't cover SRT, Fleet, or police vehicles, though. Will they still allow some sort of transferable warranty for those that get rid of their cars within the first few years?

Cut me some slack we just got the email today so specific are a bit wierd. :)

It says specific vehicles, so I'm thinking maybe SRT but I don't have any more information. When you say fleet do you mean Stearling or the commercial Rams? And I dont think police vehicles are much of a concern because the average customer can't buy em, but there isn't that much difference between a police Charger and a regular Charger... so why not?

I think its a great idea personally.

If I were to take the message literaly, hopefully, they mean all the Chrysler group brands (jeep/dodge/chrysler).

No coverage of SRT, Diesel, and Fleet Vehicles (including police cars). The lifetime warranty is not transferrable (the big catch). However if you sell it before 3 years the new owner does get the normal 3/36,000.

Well, anyway you look at it they trumped GM's 5/100k with this. The only thing I don't like is that you are required to bring your car into the dealer for an inspection every 5 years to keep the warranty. When I'm old and crusty that'll take forever for me to get there. :D

I could almost see buying a new car being worth it with this program. I've sunk a lot of money into maintenance for my car.

That I don't know, as my information is fed by someone who leaked it earlier in the day. I don't actually have access to the stuff myself. Chris, OTOH... ;)

And I've calmed down a little in my driving habits. :p My record was clean last November, and this is the longest stretch I've gone without a ticket since getting my license. I would really like to keep it that way. :D

Yes, inspections are free I believe. However how often does a car go 5 years without something breaking? I'm guessing you can just have them do the inspection when it's in for that....or a state inspection.

I wonder if the '08 Viper will be available in a non-SRT model?

Hah, yeah right.

I think it's a fabulous idea that will encourage people to keep cars they would normally dump after a few years. This could create a brand loyalty that ordinarily wouldn't be there. I hope it works and other companies follow suit.

For someone like me, who has never even considered wasting money on a brand-new car, a program like this offers real incentive.

Thats what they were going for with this deal, I don't remember the numbers but brand loyalty for the CG brand is just ridiculously low. I know they were going for some new crazy idea's to try and improve that, but had really no indication it was this deal.

I could maybe do something from Jeep, but I don't think there really is a chrysler vehicle that I really like that isn't an SRT model :(

We'll see when the Challenger comes out, but how can you buy a Challenger and NOT get the SRT model? :p
