It's cool that they did it, but I just can't see comparing it in any way, shape or form to the Veyron. The Veyron is an engineering triumph in every sense of the word.

This thing is on par with a car like the Mosler MT900. It's a glorified kit car. The seats are from an Audi, the engine is from a Corvette, and the headlamps are from a Focus. It's a bunch of cobbled together parts wrapped in a body that looks like it was taken from a modified Fiero Diablo mold.

It's got 200 hp on the Veyron, it's TWO THOUSAND POUNDS lighter, and it's only 4 mph faster at the very top end? (Ok, they ran out of road, whatever. Go test at the salt flats if you're so sure of yourself...) Yeah, it might have notched a couple tenths over an Enzo in the slalom, but a Miata with slicks and coilovers could probably do the same thing. I sure wouldn't want to drive it on a real road though.

I'd also like to know how 15 cars is "well on their way" to selling the projected 50.

I guess I'm just getting jaded. Top speeds like this are solely for bragging rights. There's virtually nowhere on earth you can do this legally and safely. I'm a lot more interested in real innovation than out-of-this-world performance numbers.

Good post. The Veyron is essentially perfect. This appears to be raw which makes sense given the price.

I agree its not the fine piece of machinery that a Veryon is but I do like the body shape better.

even if your last name is Shelby, you shouldn't be allowed to use the name Shelby in a car company unless your first name is also Carroll :)

Definitely has better looks than the Bugatti. Personally, I'd take either car in a heartbeat.
