Disabling the ECS

Post by GTO Assassin »

As I have a stand alone ecu, and my rear struts are goneski, if I disable the ECS ecu, it will default to SPORT yes? If so, how exactly do I disable it? Pull a plug?

Pull the plug out of the ECS computer in your rear quarter. I think it reverts to tour mode, but I really couldn't say for sure.

something I know the answer to!!!

It defualts to sport. The computer is located on the passenger side rear quarter panel. You will need to screw driver to take off the plastic protective cover. Unplug and you are all set.

Mine is unplugged, no issues.

Hey Scotty, have you installed the Bilsteins you bought from tirerack? Do they all bolt in like stock or do the fronts require some customizing?

Thanks,

yes it defaults to sport unless the strut itself is damaged and the valve is stuck.

Front bilsteins for the 3s requires cutting and modifying the stock strut as all bilstein sells is the cartridge insert.

I remember seeing a thread along time ago that goes with what you said. I just recall seeing Scotty mention somewhere (here or 3si) that they were plug and play.

Mine are for the rear, and the guys at TR said they should just go straight in. I still haven't installed them yet. Maybe next week. ;)

rears are a direct bolt in, and as far as i know Bilstein doesn't make a full strut (front) replacement for our cars yet.
