Electric Car

Post by bosoxvr420 »

http://www.popularmechanics.com/automot ... ?series=19

I would feel like a tool driving one, it looks retarded, and I would not want to be in a wreck with one.

These are just my opinions.

"People stop and stare at you in this thing..."
Yeah...cause you look like a tool.

link fail for me

Me, I will convert my own car to electric.

I'll have one electric CRX, and one sportbike-powered CRX, good small light donor car. :D

Plus:

Looks different, seems to be more or less usable in that it has an actual trunk

Negative:

Looks different, looks flimsy, is useless in any place that gets snow any time of the year, which is something like 2/3 of the country. It should play well in California though.

I don't see any airbags whatsoever. That alone is proof that they don't expect to sell enough of them to need to pass government mandated crash testing. That chassis looks flimsy as hell.

Actually, this says it all right here:
Since the Aptera is a three-wheeler, you don’t need a motorcycle license to drive one (even though it’s technically classified as a bike).
That touch screen would be the devil on an actual bumpy road.

I also noted they didn't provide any performance numbers. Electric cars can feel quick due to the nature of 100% torque right off the line, but tend to post real world acceleration numbers that are on the low end of 'acceptable'.

It's a neat little novelty, but I doubt any of us will ever actually see one on the road.
