Wow pretty amazing. I wonder if its completely stock like they claim. If so, then the 480hp they claim is very underrated.

Apparently this car isn't designed for the tuner market hence the GT-R name and not the skyline name and apparently the ECU is "tamper proof".

Are those fanboi's in the US? And how many of them have actually seen a GT-R in person, let alone been in one? You will also find all the moronic Americans that bag the GT-R have also NOT seen one in person.

I think his point is that they really *are* nice cars, and that those who bag on 'em are doing so from the same position of ignorance that they decry.

Can't wait to see one in person. The local Nissan lot is stocking up on S2000's for some reason, possibly to help their image be one of sportiness, rather than family cars. Their front lot is nothing but 350Z's and S2000's. Would be nice to see this as a build-up to their taking first delivery of a GT-R.

Don't care if they won't let me test drive it - just want to see it for myself.

I admit I'm a fanboi but hey I've seen them, been in them, I seen them absolutely kill at Bathurst.

470+awhp would be pretty incredible stock. I think that Dyno was a bit generous, but still I'm sure it's HP is underrated but I don't think by that much. I'm sure we'll find out soon enough.

I'm a fanboi also. I refuse to get one here as they are everywhere. But fuck me they go. Enjoyed a ride in a nice R33 GT-R and man they handle great stock, and go hard stock.

I can't wait for this new machine to be released. I think a lot of the non believers will be quite impressed. I don't think Japan would have spent all these years and called it the next gen GT-R if it wasn't going to be something special.

I like the R32 best, it's still a real "bare-bones" car...has the essential parts needed to go fast, and just enough electronic gizmos to be bad ass without being overly complicated AND it only weighs 3200lbs. R33 is just a weaker, bloated version of the R32 weighing 3700lbs and the R34 they crammed too much tech crap into it, but at least they made up for the bloat that the R33 was. I've ridden and driven all 3, there are plenty of them here in SoCal, especially if you actually attend racing events.

This new GTR I'm sure will be a cool car, but it's still too heavy and techy to be anything but a big grand tourer. It's like owning a F-599 or Vanquish or Bugatti or something. Just big, fancy, heavy, and fast. I'm sure they under-rated the stock horsepower as it would be difficult for a 3800lbs 475HP car to run the times it has on the 'ring...but I would say a ~550HP car with race rubber could (we already know they used R-compound tires on the 'ring to "cheat")

I like nimble cars...that's what I don't like about the GTR...it's way too heavy...R32 FTW

Do agree on the nimbleness thing though. After driving an S2k for seven months/25,000 miles, I'm going to have a hard time moving to something heavier.

I had a lot of fun in my modded Stealth, but I spent a lot of useless hours trying to make it into a track car and it just isn't (even importing rare/unknown parts from Japan). Poorly designed AWD system + 3800lbs doesn't work I have nothing against the 3/S at all, it's an awesome car...just a fast GT cruiser. Kind of a "jack of all trades" for a street car. Easy to get ~450HP and handles good enough on big sweepers to be fun for everyone.

The R34 GTR had what the 3/S needed...advanced AWD system and great suspension setup (not stolen from a family sedan) to "make up" for the heaviness.

Nissan did what Mitsu couldn't do, even though on paper they appeared very similar. It's not about the specs, it's about the engineering behind the specs.

I'm of a "wait and see" mindset. Paper specs don't mean much to me. We'll have real-world experiences to read soon enough.

Parts availability and looks aside, why would you (or anyone) choose a VR4 over a GTR? Just curious what benefits/advantages you think the VR4 has over the GTR.

no. it was a stock R32.


granted it was cool....i was not impressed. 3s looks better and is faster (in stock form) if im gonna be dumping money into a car itll be a car i like. i dont need half of the city swarming around me at the drag strip.

I agree. Side by side, my GTO hands down gets the win. But here in Oz, you can drive down the road, order a whole bunch of bits and kits that will bolt straight on to a GT-R (32 - 34) and get yourself 500 + ponies right there! The 3/S platform will never be like that. As long as you are a patient man/chickybabe, the 3/S is worth it imo.
